I didn't really get the exact meaning of the last paragraph, can someone help me? Will they line up 8 or 9 riders?

8 riders.. Unless something changes...

Vino asked UCI if they can replace him with Vanotti. It's after the meeting of Directeur sportifs so normally it isn't allowed any more. Vino then says they'll definatly start with 9. Either they still allow Vanotti in or they'll say ciao to MPCC

I think it means Vino wanted Vanotti to replace him but the UCI said no.

Vinokourov wants to start with 9 riders, he called the UCI and asked if he can replace Boom with Vanotti, they refused, and then a quote of Vinokourov: "Either the UCI let's us replace Boom, or he starts with us." And then something like "tant pis pour le MPCC", really don't know to translate as my English is very bad but he doesn't care about MPCC.

edit: ok maybe not 100% correct, Boom won't start anyway I guess

Nobody said anything when Rabofail left the MPCC, but if Astana does the same the anglophone cycling media will crucify them and portray them as the dirty villains from the east.
I wonder how many riders start the Tour with a TUE...
Edit: I wasn't even thinking about the RaboBlanco connection but you're right and just think about the Santa-cheeks that Wilco had a few months ago.

The question could be if Astana as part of their "probation" licence and ISSUL audit are required to/have agreed to adhere MPCC rules...
If so, then leaving the MPCC could have consequenses?

Are we witnessing a Cookson pawn move?

I imagine Boom will start and Astana will quit the MPCC. Everybody wins, really.
Yeah, I imagine the MPCC won't be shedding crocodile tears over the departure of Astana. Boom a better asset than Vanotti for this parcours. Seems like Nibs made up with his bro, though.

Lotto Jumbo are largely irrelevant, as they barely win anything. It's perfectly logical to pay more attention to Astana, who are also way shadier.

Lotto Jumbo being less relevant and therefore getting less attention is a valid point.
