I imagine Boom will start and Astana will quit the MPCC. Everybody wins, really.

meh, they are already in the Movement For Incredible Cycling anyway... together with Stinkoff and Skyborgs

In interviews after the TT they (Cookson, Prudhomme, ...) were tripping over each other to explain how Boom was totally within the UCI/WADA rules and that there was NO PROBLEM with his low cortisol levels. NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER.

Then they interviewed Roger Legeay who calmly explained that doctors were pretty much unanimous that low cortisol levels present a major health risk.

Technically, Boom's situation isn't against the rules. However to suggest there is no health problem associated with low cortisol levels is disingenuous.

I didn't have much of an opinion of Cookson before, I do now.

Seams like a genuine mistake by Lars, class rider, has never been involved in doping scandal before this, hard to believe he just decided to start doping. Personnaly believe his story that his results are due to illness and asthma, makes perfect sense.

The basic statistical probability that, just before a grand tour when synthetic cortisone would provide the most benefits, that book's low levels are caused by an altitude tent, asthma, illness or beet juice would be interesting to calculate. More impressive is that multiple riders seem to have the same issue before big racers.

Oscar's razor is a hell of a lot more convincing than someone being class. Being with vi no don't care is a lot more convincing than never doped before.

Interesting commentary piece on Lars Boom from Journalist with some courage and brains, would like it if more media would call a spade a spade like this.

from google translate:

Lars boy anyway, I saw it happen in front of my nose. You stood in front of a camera and hit close. You stammered. You floundered. You tried to slither away like an eel among the questions but could not. You acted like it was nothing that low cortisol value and start prohibition of the MPCC. You said: ,, It is a storm in a teacup ". But the bags under your eyes told a different story, that of a tired, sad rider who had landed at the wrong place at the wrong time and the wrong team. . You wasted the prologue in his own country,

For the biggest win of your career, you needed a kick in the butt. You had various teams can draw. But Astana? Really, Lars? Do you? Remember that after the withdrawal of Rabobank within your team decrying brought about credibility? Remember when your hand Michael Boogerd and Thomas Dekker refused to shake his beak wild hammering because they had defiled your sport? Remember when you Luis Leon Sanchez - alias Huerto on the list of doping doctor Fuentes - upon Blanco prefers personally would flicker out you remember it, Lars? Whether you become forgetful when your salary is deposited in Kazakhstan? Otherwise I can not explain it to you right now blandly driving in the service of Alexander Vinokourov, a team that was dogged by doping ghosts of the recent past. What is it now Luis Leon Sanchez again have as teammate?

it's a good piece, pointing out Boom's hypocricy.
Played hardball in the press with Boogerd, Dekker and Sanchez when they confessed/got accused.
Then signs for Astana.

But NB: the author himself, Thijs Zonneveld, is not free of hypocricy either, as he already has a couple of dumb-ass pro-Sky and 'cycling is so much cleanER now' articles under his belt.
