There's also that other guy, the fast one.

And the 3 other British guys with victories this year.

What are the criteria for being British or any other nationality, if you don't believe Froome is?
Parentage? Passport?

Sorry but he's from Isle of Man :p

Steve Cummings was born in England.

Also BSE's Daniel McLay won a stage of La Tropicale Amissa Bongo, but he was born in New Zealand for anyone with a strange fixation on birthplace as the only factor of nationality. (Because Chris Horner is Japanese)

GB is doing extremely well this year.

Victories so far (2.1 or above) this year:
1. Australia 11
1. Great Britain 11
3. Spain 9
4. Italy 8
5. Netherlands 5
6. Belgium 4
6. Luxembourg 4
6. Norway 4

Victories (2.1 or above) at this time last year:
1. Germany 13
2. Australia 9
2. Belgium 9
4. Italy 8
5. Colombia 7
6. France 6
6. Spain 6
8. Great Britain 5

So, GB is doing much better than last year and Germany much worse. Belgium, Colombia and France are also not off to a great start this year. Luxembourg on the other hand is doing brilliantly if you consider they only had one win all year last year.

Well, Tony Martin and Andre Greipel started winning for the Germans again last week. It's coming. Slowly, but steady :D

Five countries remaining. Their achievements so far:
Poland: Four second places
United States: Three second places
Portugal: One second place & one third place
Russia: One third place & four fourth places
Denmark: No top six as yet!
Anton Vorobyev just won the prologue of Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen, which means Russia's off the list. Four to go!

And I still think USA already got wins, for reasons I already mentioned:

Actually, USA has several wins:

Lauren Hall won stage 2 and 5 of the Tour of New Zealand.
Tayler Wiles won stage 4 and the GC.

You never said this thread was only for the men! :)

This thread need some more gender-equality! Wins are wins, whether they're by men or women! But of course, is the Tour of New Zealand is simply a too low-level race, then it's another matter.

Now, who could win for Denmark? I know everyone is pointing at Valgren, but it could be kinda fun if it ended up being someone like Ebsen.

It's .2 so yes too low.

With Poland's win at P-N today, we are left with the United States, Portugal, and Denmark.

Denmark will probably "win" the competition. We dont really have a winner type (except for Breschel, but he is like day and night). Rui Costa could take a win in PN and it won't be impossible for Van Garderen or Talansky either.

Given that there now is a thread about winless riders with the most top tens, here is a list of winless countries with most top tens (.1 and above; national and continental championships excluded):

23 - USA
18 - South Africa
17 - Portugal
13 - Eritrea
11 - Slovakia
9 - Denmark
7 - Algeria
5 - Malaysia
4 - Canada, Lithuania, Morocco, Rwanda
3 - Japan, Ukraine
2 - China, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Namibia, Romania, Turkey
1 - Chile, Dominican Republic

At least Denmark is a lot better than their neighbour Sweden, which hasn't even got a single top ten yet.

Surely the country that brought us Bauer, Hejesdal, et al, belongs on a list that includes Poland, Slovenia, and Denmark (with no disrespect to any of those countries and their place in cycling)?

Which Bauer are you talking about?

Of course I think Denmark should be on the list. Same with Poland; they got the World Champ, and a guy who won two stages in last year's Tour, surely that's gonna count for something.

Gee whiz, when did Canada cease to be a 'major country'?

Someone didn't read the OP: a basic prerequisite for being able to criticise the set up of a thread, I would suggest.
It is based on the CQ nation rankings, and at the time of posting the poll, Australia. Italy, Spain, GB, Belgium, Argentina, Colombia, Netherlands and Brazil already had wins.

The top ten in that ranking omitting those that had already chalked up a win were those included in the poll. Czech Republic , Ireland, Slovakia, Austria, Luxembourg, Ukraine, South Africa and Iran would all have been included ahead of Canada had the poll been able to accommodate more entries.

And Bauer is about as relevant to Canada's next win as George Best is to Northern Ireland reaching Euro 2016.

Updated standings of number of top tens for winless countries (.1 and above; national and continental championships excluded). Denmark nearly doubled its number of top tens over the weekend, but still no win. The only country that got their first win over the weekend was Algeria.

17 - Denmark
14 - Slovakia
13 - Eritrea
6 - Malaysia
5 - Ukraine
4 - Canada, Lithuania, Morocco, Rwanda
3 - Indonesia, Japan, Turkey
2 - China, Kazakhstan, Namibia, Romania
1 - Chile, Dominican Republic

Surely to compare Canada in cycling with any of those three countries disqualifies you from ever having an opinion about anything again.
