South Africa got their first wins over the weekend, so Denmark and Portugal are clearly in front of the rest now:
24 - Denmark
23 - Portugal
13 - Eritrea
10 - Japan
8 - Lithuania
6 - Malaysia, Ukraine, Canada, Kazakhstan
4 - Morocco, Rwanda
3 - Indonesia, Turkey, Croatia
2 - Romania, Namibia, China, Greece, Taiwan
1 - Dominican Republic, Chile, Costa Rica

Denmark's only podium places thus far are two third places by Patrick Clausen and Michael Carbel.
Portugal's only podium places thus far are one second place by Fabio Silvestre and three third places by Rui Costa (2) and Tiago Machado. It's anyone's guess who will win this.

A Kazakh rider is going to have to win real quick if that Astana license is going to be withdrawn.

Kazakhstan ain't in the running for this. It's all between Denmark and Portugal; "May the best country lose this!"

Anyway; how's it going with top-10s for Denmark? Seem to be pretty good at getting those.

Denmark and Portugal are now both on 30. Lithuania is out of the ranking.
30 - Denmark, Portugal
13 - Eritrea
11 - Japan
6 - Malaysia, Ukraine, Canada, Kazakhstan
4 - Morocco, Rwanda
3 - Indonesia, Turkey, Croatia
2 - Romania, Namibia, China, Greece, Taiwan
1 - Dominican Republic, Chile, Costa Rica
0 - Sweden, Latvia, Venezuela, Bulgaria, Hong Kong

I have now also added countries from the top 50 of the 2014 CQ country ranking that haven't had a single top 10 yet this season (Hong Kong does have a top 10 from the continental championships, but that's excluded here).

No, only .1 and above. When I started this idea two years ago, I also counted .2 races, as per the CQ victory count, but most people seemed to prefer .1 and above only.

For Denmark it's not unusual to not have a win yet by this date. For the last three years their first win was in May. Portugal had to wait until 22 June last year when Rui Costa won the Tour de Suisse, but in the years before that it was late March/early April.

Morkov needs to win a reduced sprint like at the Vuelta or Valgren wins FW or LBL. The latter more unlikely though.

I'll make a (perhaps not too) bold prediction and say the first Danish win at .1 or above level will come in Tour de Luxembourg. Mørkøv or Breschel.

Why is it that .2 races dont count?

Because we have to draw the line simewhere and some .2 races are predominantly made up of riders from the host country.

For some weird reason I think it could be rather funny if John Ebsen clocks the first win for Denmark. Seriously, the casual cycling-viewers around here doesn't even know he exists.

It will happen at the national championship ofcourse.

This Ebsen guy makes it superhard to argue that Iranians use illegal substances since he has been very competitive in Asian races but can hardly finish European races.

Now one Portuguese rider can claim to have won a stage in a 2.HC race. Too bad for Portugal TTT's don't count (or do they?).

Have you seen his as a rider? He can't do nothing but climb, he surely has suffered from the pace and fight for positions in the peloton.

Yes, Sweden didn't even have a single top ten yet, but now they have a win. That must hurt in Denmark...

Yeah! Just rub it in! :p
It's bad enough that the Norwegians are way ahead of Denmark without Sweden needing to be as well.
Yes, this "Scandinavian War" is very serious.

Not like Denmark has much of a change in the current/upcoming races...

How does the scoreboard work for a TTT? Does Gerrans record a win in the first stage of Giro, therefore another Aussie win?

OGE have been giving Cort a few chances and he has been thereabouts, wouldn't surprise to see him get a win for Denmark. In Turkey he shared the sprinting duties with Caleb Ewan and can obviously climb better than Ewan as he made the finishing group to sprint when Ewan was dropped.
