Can we please have two separate threads? I find this utterly confusing to have two totally separate races discussed in one thread.

Do you also find the "Lesser Known Races" threads confusing?
Those - the men's and women's respectively - are actually discussing multiple totally separate races. Rather than simply different versions of the same race.

Although by that logic, we could also just have one thread to cover all races and another thread called Rider X is either the new, next or old Rider Y.

My point was that if we can have shared "Lesser known races" threads, why not a shared l'Avenir thread?
I personally find multiple race threads confusing, as you have to keep track of which race thread you're posting in.

Maybe the thread titles should have different colours.

When the best Italian rider is half dutch...
I'm joking, Kajamini (who's mother is Dutch, while his father is Italo-Syrian) is a good one day racer, who has already shown some promise as a stage racer at the u23 Giro and the Giro dell'Abruzzo.
Frankly I expected a bit more from Crescioli, but maybe he'll be better tomorrow.

Are there any legacy riders (related to a cyclist) in this race? Curious!

Markel Beloki - the son of Joseba Beloki - was in the race, but he DNFed today.
Then there's Colby Simmons, younger brother of Quinn.
And T-Rex - who sadly doesn't ride for the QS devo team - the younger brother of Laurenz.
Jarno Widar's older brother also seems to ride/rode. However, in that case, it's definitely the little brother who's the more famous one.

It would be cool, if Daniel Mraz was Jason's son, but he probably isn't.

Funny to see 20 yo Colby popping champagne in Knoxville in 2023...doesn't look like Martinelli's. European customs?

Given their ages, they certainly look like this is the first time adults invited them to have at alcohol.

Were the actually given alcohol?
I vaguely recall Pogacar not getting any when he won ToC, because he was only 20, and - you know - illegal in the US.

Friends I have in France and the Swiss couple that used to live down the street always shook their head in disbelief that kids in the US can get their driver’s license at 16 but can’t legally drink till 21, while it’s pretty much the opposite in their countries (which makes a lot more sense).

Jarno Widar's brother is, unfortunately for him, called Wesley. Not Jardo.

Anybody know what happened to Andrew "AJ - Remco with more power" August? He lost nearly half an hour on the first MTF. Before the start he stated in an interview with DirectVelo that he came to win the race. So i assume his form must have been good.
Sick/maybe covid at Burgos, hasn't recovered

He was very good in Czech to be fair so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that this isn't his level
