So from the limited camera footage it looks like froome attacked just after nibali's crash but shortly after slowed up and waited with the other GC guys (cycling slowly 4 abrest) Bardet then attacked and the rest followed the attack. I'm not saying it was the wrong thing to do but Bardet definitely launched an attack.

Yep, the Bardet “attack” after they regrouped was indeed well after Nibali had fallen. No criticism could possibly be made of Bardet for that.

He didn’t know if Nibali was going to be able to continue, let alone come back to the leaders, so he couldn’t wait indefinitely and thereby let podium rivals like Roglic and Quintana come back.

It’s a total non issue.

The other three were well aware Nibs is back in bike and chasing. Thus the side-by-side sunday ride. But I don't blame Bardet. He probably did not understand what the others were saying and as he said no radio at that point. He by the way apologiesed himself for the attack with excuse he wasn't aware of it.

I would like to see a flare ban. Riders shouldn't have to ride through that crap and it could cause an accident.

Could? It did cause an accident.

I didn't know that was the cause but it's moronic to be letting off flares anywhere near the riders. You see it in the Giro every year as well.
i don't think so...Giro sometimes show a bad organization but is clearly safer

No Nibali crashed following Froome when he attacked, Nibali has said this

Re: Le Tour '18 stage 12: Bourg-Saint-Maurice > Alpe d'Huez

Greipel, Sieberg and Aldag all mentioned that other riders/teams did a lot shady things to stay inside the time limit but refused to call names. Greipel told the German TV crew that riders were holding on to team cars on the climbs while he refused to do the same. I really hope that some fans have footage and expose the teams + riders.

I'd bet it was Démare.

And there were also several others like Greipel who choose to climb off the bike.

I agree, hope some video from fans show up of who was doing that.

Maybe they need some time adjustments to the cut off time especially on the shorter stages. Yesterday's stage was just too much for many of the heavier riders.

Conveniently, there will be no footage of this.

I think you're right that they need to rethink the cut off time for some of the really mountainous shorter stages.

The waiting things, again, is just ruining the sport. The rule should be easy:you never ever wait, unlss you have crossed the finish line. Racing is a thing and being friend and caring another thing, you can neutralize one stage but it has to be decided before the start. Nibali has often said he doesnt want to be waited or wait, the only ones who shold wait for you are your team mates. It would be easier, and doesn't leave ground to speculations or arguing. In the last video I saw, he thanks the 4 for waiting but he said he had a ton of messages to read so he doesnt know if they wrote him. The crash dynamic was not clear to him too, and doctors said the person who put him on the bike after the crash could have endangere his life if the fracture was worse. He does not remember anthing but pain and going flat out till the finish line. He was ready to play his chancs, feeling good, but this sort of things can happen. 15 days without bike wearing a tutor. Thats all.

Re: Le Tour '18 stage 12: Bourg-Saint-Maurice > Alpe d'Huez

A sprint amongst 6 riders and it would have been 7 with Nibali is bloody terrible for a MTF,
Especially when there are so few. It's a bad your when the biggest gaps have been the TTT and crashes on flat stages

God forbid the result of a 5+ hour sporting event should be decided in the last action of the contest. Much better to know the winner with 10-20 minutes of competition remaining.

Certainly. He was very far back early on the stage according to the live tracker and don't left his teammates emphatically. I think Laporte did the same, although he might have just sprinted up the Croix-de-Fer in an hour, graciously having left the spotlight to Kruijswijk by not going with him early.

The side by side wasn't waiting for Nibali. The race was on, nobody was waiting. What nonsense is this. Nibali wouldn't wait either.

I'm gutted nibali is out, I think he was a rider that potentially could still win the tour. Certainly with the 3rd week still to come.
