Dumo>>Nibali obviously

Wait for the uphill...17 km solo against at least 5 Skyborgs.

He has a team mate which should do the work on the false flat untill 11km to go.

So...11 km solo against 4 Skyborgs?

With eleven to go even Landa, Quintana and Nibali will plan to attack.
11km-6km to go is the steep part of the climb

Come on guys... Nibali is top contender. Valverde is a really strong opponent. Nibali can't just Valverde have Yelow plus 1.30-2 minutes advance esp. because he is not that much better TT than him.. We've seen before that even average riders (hello Pereiro) suddenly becomes top contenders after taking Yellow...
Sky just rode a comfort pace and didnt't really seem to care about Valverde. So what the other teams are expected to do ? Give Valverde free minutes just because they don't like Froome/Thomas/Sky ?

this same discussion happens every year.

Some rider rides for 2nd or 3rd place. People complain. A few people say - oh but they are maybe fighting for the win.

And they always get proved wrong.

I remember when Ryo guaranteed 100% quintana would attack on some stage 5 years ago. But they all rode hands together to the finish

And it's gonna keep happening every year until they get rid of the podium, introduce minus UCI points for finishing in the top 10 and get rid of the white jersey.

Then we might actually have a race for yellow.

Gorka is still in the chasing group. If Movistar and Nibali attack they could have enough man power.

Could somebody from the breakaway still win this? Barquil still have one backup rider with him. Nieve? Valverde is gonna be cnackered and gap is still in minutes.

CN race reports suggest we'll be losing some sprinters after today.
Cav now at 37 minutes, could be an hour by the end. Kittel and Renshaw both about 5 minutes behind the grupetto including Groenewegen which itself could be in trouble. Looks like Gallopin is also trouble. Cyclingnews reckons the time cut will be about 30 minutes today.

Could well be close for the stage win between the best riders from the break and the GC guys today.
