With Nibali out Colbrelli will want a sprint win.

What makes you think Nibali is out?

They haven't told you

No worries, tomorrow when the actual stage is this will make perfect sense. We're predicting here.

His DNS hadn't been confirmed when you made your post. I was just being optimistic, after all; a suspected vertebrae fracture doesn't automatically equal leaving the race.

With so few sprinters left, will Quickstep give Terpstra a shot at the sprint?
Others who might get involved, Alaphilippe, D. Martin, Zakarin, and Valverde?

I wonder if Eddy Bos could repeat some of his efforts from last year, he'd have half a chance if so.

Wanty made it with 8 men. Prepare the sprint train for a Pasqualon or Dupont win.

Hilaire will be pleased

(Note, the guy on the left is not Hilaire, that's just Devolder imitating Hilaire with great succes)

G will lead out Froome in the bunch sprint. Sagan unable to keep up . . . fades to 3rd behind Froome and G.

So, Froome #1, G #2, and Sagan 3rd, and there is a gap of 2 seconds between GT and Sagan.

What a hilarious piece of satire.

Breakaway day, I think. Not sure FDJ has the firepower to pull it back and others have limited strength or motivation.

My random pick would be Kung (100-1) as BMC try to salvage stage wins from a Tour they came here to win. Gerrans (125-1) is not a crazy suggestion either though.

Interesting thought. Maybe Quickstep tries to get Terpstra into the break?

After eleven stages at the 2018 Giro were won by riders that had some sort
of points race title on their palmares, a stage going to Terpstra would be five
stage wins and counting at the 2018 Tour going to riders with a madison title.

Riders remaining:
8: Bora, Cofidis, FDJ, Fortuneo, Mitchelton, Sky, UAE, Wanty
7: Bahrain, BMC, Direct Energie, EF Education, LottoNL, Movistar, Sunweb, Quick Step, Trek
6: Astana, Dimension Data
5: AG2R
4: Katusha, Lotto-Soudal

Edited with news of Nibali DNS.

Not good for Bardet.

Break should stay away on this stage. Can't see Sky bothering to chase much after the last few days and most of the sprinters teams have no sprinter. But if it is a sprint maybe Degenkolb is a chance. Sagan must be getting tired and Demare is not in good form.

This might be the mother of all fights to get in The breakaway

Or anyone who wants to be in the breakaway, will be in it. :D

Also Saturday's stage is long and lumpy so GC guys will take it easy.

To me with all the big sprinters out, it's chance for the 2nd tier riders to get a TDF sprint stage. Smaller teams are going to help out I think

Bora and especially FDJ should chase the break. Maybe with some help from UAE and Bahrain. Should be able to reign it in? Demare is FDJs best chance for a stage win, Kristoff probably won't get a bigger chance to win a stage again than the remaining flat stages of this Tour.

At least half of the UAE squad will be keeping Martin out of trouble. The rest may contribute a little to a chase, but Kristoff will probably have to freelance a bit if he wants to win.

Looking at the results from yesterday, some 'bigger' guys that seem in excellent shape are:
Naesen (29th), Valgren (36th), GVA (44th), Vermote and Kung (51th and 52nd).
Some of these in the break? Naesen will probably have to stay with Bardet though.
