This is so crazy. So many riders that talk about how fast the pace is and SKY is rolling around with 4-6 guys when it is 20 riders left..
Apparently Quintana rode the last climb at 5.88 w/kg. That’s nothing abnormal. And he rode it faster than everyone.

1) Quintana is back. But too late.
2) Thomas wins the Tour..
3) Dumoulin best of the rest. Again. Still could have had a chance without Bretagne. But that's cycling.

Why Kristoff abandon?SHAD0W93 said:Even more if Kristoff abandons leaving 5 people who could win.

What a whiny brat
It’s a pretty widespread view that it’s unnecessarily dangerous and particularly so when kids and fat old lads try to imitate it.
But why do they do it? Science say that it is slower that other positions:

If we take into account the road surface and that it was on third week for a 16 km that is very impressive. Compare that to Finestre at the Giro. That would be a good comparison.Poursuivant said:Walkman said:HelloDolly said:

You have Dumo, Froome and Quintana in the same boat!grizzlee said:But for Martins puncture and crash he would be in 4th only 30 secs down on Froome.

Yep. Pretty much! I would add that Roglic looks to be a real strong challenger for the future too. Bernal also down the road, he was incredible today. 21years old!!

He wouldn't have been allowed to ride away like this, he'd be a lot further back
Dis somebody check Poels GPS? was he hiding on a ditch midway through the climb?Dekker_Tifosi said:It's also quit something Thomas now managed to sprint away from his rivals everytime in the last 500m. If only it was a man to man battle from earlier on. I would like to see that. But Bernal (and Poels now too?) are too strong
Thanks!GraftPunk said:King Boonen said:Dis they ban the position or the bike though? I think in reality it was the bike.GraftPunk said:In all fairness, they did ban the 'superman' position IIRC
ETA: as well as GO's previous 'praying mantis' position.
Technically the bikes and the positions. It was a multi-faceted decision by UCI. From GO's wiki:
The world governing body, the Union Cycliste Internationale, grew concerned that changes to bicycles were making a disproportionate improvement to track records. Among other measures, it banned his riding position: he did not find out until one hour before he began the world championship pursuit in Italy.[17] Judges disqualified him when he refused to comply.[18] The magazine Cycling Weekly blamed "petty-minded officialdom."[19]
He always does that when he is weak. He needed some puffs as well. No kidding!Robert5091 said:Chapeau Nairo & Dan Martin! Grid start? Nah, sorry.
Froome looks ill - coughin' and a wheezin' - which has n't stopped him winning in the past.
