I would have liked to seen Kruijswijk on the attack also. But he is one of the few that actually tried something and it failed. So I can understand his reluctance.

I agree. Landa has someone to work for him, Kruijswijk did not. However, Landa could have done even better by starting the descent close to Alaphilipe who is one of the strongest descenders this TdF.

Amador is a really good descender though.

Sagan in a loose group of 19 riders* at 17 minutes back, has three team mates back there - Oss,Bodnar, Poestlberger. Tough one for Vanendert, 25 minutes back, will have to chase down the valley from Luz-St-Sauveur to the foot of the Borderes by himself.

*Tracker is reporting a group of 13 about 20 seconds ahead of Sagan's group of 6 but sometimes these divisions can be a little suspect when that close.

I just saw that the gap is getting smaller. The descent is also not really technical, so my point wan't valid.

I think even 30 seconds could be fine unless he's cooked. He lost 50 seconds over 40km at the 2017 Giro while dealing with a crash. Dumoulin should be quite a bit more fatigued at this point as well.

Yeah Thomas is not going to lose more than 30s in TT to TomD if he does his normal TT performance.

He probably doesn’t need a minute against a Dumoulin riding a TT at the end of a Giro - Tour double. And he would have to explode completely to lose more than a minute on the Aubisque, a climb that should be little problem to these guys. I’d love it if it did happen and there was some suspense in the ITT, but it won’t.

Interesting tactical situation in the merged lead group. Amador can’t pull forever if they are going to stay away. Other than Movistar, only QS have a second man.
