Kruijswijk vs. Mollema vs. Poels battling it out for Giro glory. :D
And Dumoulin as well, right? Now we just need Gesink and Kelderman to target the Giro as well :D
Will Kelderman actually be a team leader?
I thought that they had signed him as a superdomestique (probably for Dumoulin), after the last 2 seasons I don't think that he'll get many chances to be a leader/protected rider in a gt from the get go.

Thibaut Pinot will lead GC ambitions at Il Giro, and will go stage hunting at Le Tour.

Perfect decision. Away from all the GC-stress in July. He showed in Lombardia last year Italian racing suits him.

Yes!!!
Great news, that's the smartest thing to do.

GIRO 2017: Pinot, Kruiswijk, Dumoulin, Mollema, Landa, Thomas, Aru, Nibali, Amador, Poels, Majka, Jungels and Yates/Chaves, Zaka, TJ, Formolo, Pozzovivo.
Pretty sure only two of the Skys will go, but nevertheless its shaping up to be a star studded GC-duel.

Majka has changed his plans and will be targeting the Tour GC instead. IMO Dumoulin will probably be going for the Tour, too, as he and team feel the Giro's multiple mountain stages are (too?) hard.

You can probably forget about Poels, too. Sky would be beyond foolish if they didn't save their best mountain doms (Poels and Henao) for the Tour. It would make no sense whatsoever.

And Majka might just target the polka dot jersey at the Tour once again, while the rest of the Bora team dedicates itself to Sagan.
That's not the case. Majka targets the top 5 and will get his own support riders, according to the team.
Even at the Giro top 5 would be pretty hard (the field is stacked), top 5 on the gc in the Tour will be difficult.
Sagan should get decent amount of riders to support him and many of their younger climbers would probably be better off riding the Giro.

It might turn out to be a better option for any rider to ride the Tour rather than the Giro, because at this rate, there is a chance that TdF field will be actually weaker than the Giro field.

On the other hand, Quintana to Giro increases chances for another easy TdF win for Froome.

Indeed on your first point; but it looks like Chaves will ride the Tour, but that would mean one of the Yates to the Giro. Not a huge downgrade either. But its an amazing field.

Gee - You only have Porte, Bardet and Contador to fight for the podium at the TDF - There is a podium place up for grabs - I suspect Orica-Scott may reconsider their plans for Chavez and the Yates brothers - Team management may get their way.

So Dumoulin now confirmed for the Giro. And Kelderman is going there as well as main helper/shadow leader I guess?

Man this Giro is going to have an insane start list

No kidding, the list much more impressive than the Tour ATM. Another guy targeting the GC at Giro is Rohan Dennis. Well, he said, he is going there to "learn", but I think he can be right there on the same level with Dumoulin.

Do you really think that keldermann is a big name of cycling?
