Mental Illness

ggusta said:
Maserati, get him his prozac, quick! The thread for cycling as a sign of mental illness is down the hall.

You're the one saying that the MSM influenced the public's perception of GWB and Palin as screwballs.

Jeez, I, as well as most sentient beings, could tell they were mental midgets when they just opened their mouths.

Dude, a guy who just murdered 13 people had deep ties to Islamic terrorism and the media is doing everything to ignore that fact. He is being sold to us as just a nut. Don't try and estimate what they are capable of ignoring.

"Dude," GWB stated the the "Higher Father" told him to start a war and and it didn't seem to hurt him too much. The polls were close enough that he could steal an election after that and MSM didn't call him on it.

I HATE to bring up politics, but my point is, when the media REALLY wants to build someone up, they can really 'flood the zone' as the former managing editor of the New York Times called it when they wanted to push their agenda in a big way

You shouldn't have, it's not your strong suit.

ggusta said:
They can tear people down: Bush, Palin.

Tear people down? GWB? Every time the guy opened his mouth he was "misspeaking."

Palin? Bush Doctrine? "Whaddaya mean Charlie." Yeah, that vicious pit bull Katie Couric really tore poor ol Sarah down.

ggusta said:
Or turn them into demi-gods: Obama.

Palin; 7 Colleges with a communications degree and Obama; Columbia, Harvard Law, President of Law Review.

Forget what Lance is on, what are you on?

ggusta said:
this is not a story that will flood the zone in either direction positive or negative. The passion aroused by Lance is not two sided in the overall culture. It's one sided: positive, and the media has little motivation to change that. Lemond is a virtual non-entity. That would mean even more work by the media, which is lazy, just to bring the average person up to speed on who he is and why they should care. This story is not in their wheelhouse at all. Sorry!

You've shown you're not too perceptive on media matters.

ggusta said:
Just to summarize: Some coverage which will be truthful and unbiased and will contradict the dominant paradigm, but don't expect a big change in how LA is perceived. Media likes it when they can paint the villain as all black and the hero as all white and the public already knows who is who. This doesn't fit. Too much thought needed.

You're right, there wasn't too much thought needed by Tina Fey for the Sarah Palin laugh lines; Fey just quoted her.

Good stuff. I needed to smile since the weather sucks.

I was tempted to respond in a similar way, but it seemed redundant.
I was thinking of repeating something too, but I saw that you already did say that you wanted to, too.

Kristen refusing to answer dope questions under oath is a red flag to this judge. He is basically saying settle or you are screwed Trek and the so called Tarnishing of your brand name will really begin in trial

All judges urge people to settle. Less stress on the courts.

Coming from a moron with top honors, I'll take that as a compliment.

I didn't know they gave out awards for moron.

I meant redundant to the original post where moron status was being demonstrated if not stated, and not so much redundant to TFF's post..............oh crap now I've sunk to TFF's level of having to explain my jokes.

I sent him a photo of my girlfriend so he could replace the picture of his mom he was using before.:D

Just tell your partner TFF to take me off of ignore now.

The fact he wasn't reading my insults was very insulting.

if Greg wanted to go to trial, is it possible for Trek to play guilty and accept all requests of Greg's side therefore avoiding Lance's testimony?

Did you fall down and jam that syringe in your brain?

Wouldn't it require less effort on your part to just insult him by putting him on ignore too?

It is clear who is jealous here, Armstrong hates it that Greg is the last clean winner of the Tour De France.

Who is jealous of whom is not only irrelevant and not zero-sum, but purely speculation. I doubt either party is jealous of the other. That said, in my opinion based on my rather limited experience at one Trek dealer, Lemond has a legitimate grievance.

As for Lemond being the last clean tour winner, what do you base this on? His assertions? His era was just as drugged-up as any and with far less testing than what occurs now.

I think Greg is so competitive he just won't let LA and Team Trek get over on him. A blessing and a curse for the guy.

I don't think Greg suggesting in 2001 that Lance's relation with Ferrari was questionable was any sort of resentment. He just didnt back down from the question and wallow like a coward to the empire. For that he is screwed

Based on stories about him from his riding days, this is the best analysis of his passion behind "winning" this lawsuit that i've read in this thread so far.

First class group of guys. While doing nothing to dissuade me from my beliefs, you managed to expose yourselves for the insecure bloviating bigots you are.

A fine job of alienating a fellow cyclist. Brilliant.

Stay Classy, Cycling New Forums. Happy Trails.

I just don't get all the greg bashing and a forum where all we get is Lance bashing

What does Greg have to be bitter about?

All he is doing is standing by his 2000 remark about Lance and Ferrari. Why back down?

Interestingly, you were taken off ignore this morning. I just did it at random. I guess you can insult away now and I will read it...at least a couple of times.
