He is an "adviser" to (left wing) presidential candidate in Czech Rep.

Here is a link to the interview he did at the beginning of March ...

Gosh I never thought he was a political person

Maybe why he doesnt seem to be racing

Actually, he got some ongoing knee issues ... at least that is the official reason behind his no-show at the Pais Vasco

Tendonitis?

So that's Konig and Haussler who have been out all year with knee injuries - Haussler is a knee capsule issue and guess Konig is tendonitis - And Chaves has been out for 2 months with knee tendonitis.
Add Albanese and Capiot to that list, and possibly Fedi too. At least he struggled with the knee all of last year.
Can't remember so many knee injuries earlier, although it's not really a surprising cycling issue.

Albanese already started his season with the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali, at least he's back racing.
Bad news for König, he deserved to ride the Giro as the team leader.
Let's hope that he'll be back at the Tour de France, but I don't know if his form will be good enough to make an impact.

Also Nizzolo with tendonitis

He has been back training for the last 2 weeks, I don't know when he'll return to racing. He has been out for a long time, after all he was supposed to start racing in San Juan but then the tendonitis thing happened, so his whole preparation was pretty much ruined, I don't know if he'll be ready for the Giro.
König seems to have it even worse, I hope that he'll be back for the Tour, but if he's not in great shape sending him to the Vuelta as the team leader could be the better option.
If Buchmann and Konrad are going to the Giro the team won't have too many riders to support Majka (don't get me wrong, the main focus will always be on Sagan, but Majka should get 1 or 2 domestiques), so the team would probably like to have him at the Tour.

He's back for the Dauphiné.

Hope he doesn't go to the Tour, if he is fit he may achieve what he hasn't done last year at the Vuelta due to the Formigal stage.
Yes, the team should be all about Sagan and Majka has Buchmann to support him in the mountains (how much support does he actually need to follow wheels?), so letting König recover for the Vuelta wouldn't be a bad idea.
That said, it's a German team and Germans are all about the Tour.

So Leo is honing his form to peak at La Vuelta. I hope he'll get to the Tour team, that would be great way to prepare himself for Vuelta. He could be nice addition to fight for polka dot jersey, too and chace some stage wins. Finally he's healthy, but anyway still unlucky guy... Great talent being wasted. Maybe that's giid for something, who knows.

No doubt the injuries are not helping the talent. I think the Tour is too soon for him. Makes sense in getting fully healthy and then do the Vuelta.

He should probably skip the Tour and ride the Vuelta after getting more race miles, Sagan is the big star and Majka was always going to have limited climbing support, the guy's good at following wheels, so just give him Buchmann.

Dropped from the peleton again today - Need's race miles in his legs.

Not sure all the race miles in the world can possibly fix a top 10 GT rider that is being dropped on the slightest of inclines in a frikken sprinter stage of the Dauphine.

He might be OTL here soon. Not sure he is salvageable.

On the other hand Tour could be nice preparation.

You are joking, right? Or you don't like him much?

Just wait for the time trial.

Something like Osterreich will be better imo. Tour could be pretty demoralising if he is still in this shape. We will see.

He abandoned the Dauphine. Hazaran wasn't biased nor hostile. Was just right.
