Bouhanni nearly went into the barriers and then nearly got slapped by Coquard. What an afternoon.

Bouhanni and Cofidis messes up the lead-out again. 10 meters longer and Bouhanni was gonna win.

Incredible, no? The Cofidis train was working so well earlier in the spring, but so far at 4 Jours they've messed it up twice. You can see that Bouhanni was clearly the fastest in the closing meters, but he had too much ground to make up.

Wasn't the tour of azer(spelling) shown live on Eurosport last year?

Several stages of the Tour d'Azerbaidjan (official race name) were broadcast live on Eurosport last year, but none will be this year. However, Eurosport and I believe Eurosport 2 are both showing highlights at some point in the evening/night.

Very impressive sprint from Coquard.

He nearly had a 1" gap on Planckaert.

I suspect that Coquard has really taken it up a level this year. It's hard to say, because (thanks to a combination of injury and not being in the World Tour) we haven't seen him in a lot of sprints against top-notch guys. But come the Dauphine and the Tour we may discover that he's now in a new league. He's only 24, so this kind of growth is plausible.

Another week, another small Spanish stage race, this time the two stage Vuelta a Madrid. In recent years this has shrunk to a one-dayer then climbed back up to a stage race, but they've got rid of the Morcuera MTF this time, instead going with a bumpy intermediate first stage from Las Rozas into the mountains and back, and then the slightly bumpy short second stage in Barrio del Pilar, same as last year.

14 teams, fairly standard. Movistar the only WT team, Caja Rural, Androni and Delko for PCT, then the usual Spanish péloton of Burgos, Murias Taldea and the Dominicans of Inteja-MMR, Lokosphinx, the Portuguese bunch (Radio Popular, LA-Antarte, Loulé), the Colombians (Manzana-Postobon and Boyacá) and a Spanish national/U23 team.

Latchlan Morton is showing some good form at Tour ot Gila (USA). Many thought this kid was one of the next great riders, but his head couldn't live up to his body. Maybe a few extra years of life will help him come around.

Yes, good win, short, tight bumpy but not really hilly circuit in dreadful weather conditions. Lobato 2nd so he keeps the GC.
