Lesser Known Race Results 2017

Groenewegen was faster enough this season to win more than 10 victories, but he is the star rider of his team (alongside Roglic) so he usually goes to races with other top sprinters, and despite that he is not bad at positioning, he lacks a last leadoutman like richeze, Sabatini, Kluge, Mezgec, or even Laporte, Guarnieri, Zabel...

It´s quite usual to see Dylan starting his sprint a bit early, to far back or simply tired after being on his own during the last Km. He has decent helpers in Roosen, leezer and Wagner (he was stronger years ago) but they are not explosives enough to be the last man of a top sprint-train, maybe Amund Jansen or Van Hoecke could possible make it in tje next years.

56th UCI victory for QS this season. Impressive.
30(!) of these wins were on WT level.

Nevertheless, I don't think they'll take their 8th consecutive win in that ranking next year.

20 of them were after a bunch sprint though. It helps when you have the best sprinter in the world, one of the best and had the luck that the sprinters field in the Vuelta was very weak.

Losing Kittel and Trentin is gonna hurt them significantly next year.

BMC had 22 WT wins this year, none of them were bunch sprint wins. Equally impressive to me.

Can that race in China just be deleted?.. What an uninspiring route and race overall. The only reason I had a slight interest in the race and actually cared to check the results was Gaviria.

I am pretty fine with the race, first of all China is a huge market and it's important for the cycling industry in general. Especially for bike brands and they get some good exposure there with this race. Besides that the race had beautiful scenery and was pretty well organised, there were lots of fans along the road aswell, so there was definitely interest for the race. The riders also seemed fine with the race from the comments I have seen on twitter, I also spoke to one of the riders and he said it was very well organised with good hotels and a lot done for irders safety (police man along the road basically the whole route every 10 meter even in areas where there werent any people as there were no villages nearby).
TV coverage should be better ofc, there were some stages live on Chinese TV (and they could be streamed), and the route is far from perfect but it aint the worst route either especially if you take scenery into consideration).
For a first edition of a race I think it was pretty well organised and an okay race + good atmosphere with the fans. I hope in the future they can improve the route and TV coverage. But for cycling I think its important to have a WT race in China with some of the best riders racing there, and Guanxi is the right area for it as there is not much pollution and it's really beautiful there.
