Nice race with Monte Serra. Just woke up in time to watch that pretty legendary training climb in Tuscany, Rolf Sørensen has talked about that climb a bunch. :D I imagine Ferrari with some 90's glasses standing on the top with a watch and some instruments to analyse blood and other shady stuff.

Dunbar is quite a beast I must admit.

Such a bad sprint by Bardet, goes alongside Moscon with 150-200 to go instead of just staying behind until 50 and then try to jump him.

You'd struggle to make over a bike length up in 50m. Bardet should have dropped a bike length or two off Moscon's wheel track-style if he thought he could win the sprint really,

Yes, with "try to jump him" I meant, he should've let a small gap, get a good tow and then see what he can do in the last meters. He was never going to beat Moscon in a head to head sprint, but when the Italian chose to go early this might have been a chance.

Was Reichembach the FDJ rider glued to Moscon wheel in the first half of final climb?
I've seen Moscon turning his head and shouting something to him before he was dropped.

Anyway Pozzovivo should have attacked on the bridge with 1 km to go, not after that, he ended up being the lead out man for the other two.

Yes, it was Reichenbach. Did Moscon really shout at him? I didn't see it (but wasn't watching intently for it either).

Somewhere halfway the climb, the camera was behind so was easy to see his face, actually he looks always angry during the race but maybe it's only an impression.

Landa DNF, no Mikel in Austria.

I dont even know what the race was before, but I very much like it this way. I have always felt that all the Italian fall classics outside of Emilia, Turin and Lombardia was pretty meh due to the relatively easy courses, but I like this one.

Coppa Agostoni usually delivers because the hard part ends with 50+ kms to go and the stronger climbers/puncheurs need to attack from far like the cobbles specialists in Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne.
Coppa Bernocchi could have attack from far but is easier and there is much space to chase, Tre Valli Varesine changed a lot in the years, when finished in Campione was a race for climbers/good climbing puncheurs, Giro del Piemonte is different every year.
The only real sprinters race is Trofeo Beghelli, considering only the real fall races and not the ones added due to the isolation in other period of the year after the pandemic death of Italian races in the 00s decade.

Anyway that is considered a new races under the Memorial Martini different from the historic Giro di Toscana, also in the graphic they wrote 3rd Giro della Toscana.

The Sky espoirs team riding in support of Moscon continue to look pretty special. Dunbar in particular destroyed everyone bar a handful of the biggest favorites. Interesting that he’s already being deployed after Elissonde in the train.

On a related note, how come Sky are allowed to field him without one of their other riders leaving? As far as I can see they have 31 riders currently?

Marginal gains I'd suppose (if you consider just flat out adding a rider is marginal).

It’s not really that marginal to be able to add an extra mostly fresh rider for the last part of the season when most teams are scraping the bottom of the barrel for riders who are fit and motivated. It seems a bit weird that they e just been allowed to do it without even any kind of exemption being announced.

Sky asked UCI if they could grant permission to race Dunbar due to him not having a race program for rest of season after Aqual Blue collapse. UCI allowed it until 31st Dec I believe.

Ah, ok so there is an exemption it just hasn’t been publicized?

Re: Lesser Known Race Results 2018

Not announced by UCI, but Brailsford said UCI gave them permission due to circumstances of Aqua Blue suddenly collapsing and Dunbar not having any racing because of it.
