Despite the inexplicable relegation, Ghirmay’s stage four sprint is almost as interesting as his win. Finishing second, ahead of Bonifazio, Pelluchi and Greipel is strong evidence that the win wasn’t a fluke and he really can compete with the cream of PCT sprinters. That is frankly absurd for an 18 year old.

Does the kid even have a spot on a UCI ranked team? Surely Axel Merckx and other development team bosses should be trying to land the guy asap

Ghirmay relegated from 2nd place for not holding his line in the sprint. Not a clue why though, as he did nothing wrong.

It does just look like Greipel gets boxed in - his own fault!

I can imagine Greipel chickening out of those sprints whenever someone was threatening to come even remotely close to him. At least I hope for him that is the case.

Greipel's form is a worry when you consider he's won 18 stages of the TDU which suggests he's usually up and about at this time of the year.

Jesus Herrada won the first race in Mallorca
And quite easily, apparently.

Guillaume Martin 2nd, Bauke Mollema 3rd and Alejandro Valverde 4th.
Looks like Goncalves attacked on the climb and Martin joined him, later Martin dropped Gongalves and Herrada attacked from the peloton. In the end Herrada finished solo and Martin could just hold off the chasers.

So TGBM beat Bala in the sprint, quite impressive!

He won with 11" over Martin, Mollema and Valverde, 13" over Wellens, Higuita and Konrad, 16" over Aru (he's alive), Barguil and Majka, really impressive performance from Herrada.

Any news how bad Landa injured himself in the crash?

He'll need surgery.

Pretty much all the big names also went down, which is why none of them did particularly well on the final climb.

Only Mollema sprinted.

Imagine ruining your season in such a meaningless race in Australia

Australia? Isn't it Landa's crash you're talking about?
