He was still the best in the Dauphine last year. Then he had an actual flat in the prologue of the Tour.
That’s more than a year ago though. In the past year, his wins have been limited to an Italian NC, a sub-3k prologue in the Tour of Germany, and an admittedly-dominant win in Tirreno where the closest finisher was Kämna of all people. That’s a subpar 12-month period by his standards. In fact, if Tarling wins this, the pair of them will have an equal amount of TT wins this year in spite of Tarling only haven raced three.

Ganna has a full year of TTs that mostly haven’t been good signs under his belt at this point. Would still be absolutely insane if Tarling beats him though,

He beats him but this is a bad TT. Like Tarling is obviously a top talent, and Swift is a good TTer (probably better at Ineos too), but there's also Van Moer not that far behind. Hoole also under a minute in a 30km TT.

If this is Ganna's level at the WC, he will miss the podium for a second year running. Definitely looking like the ex-best time trialist in the world right now.

Things are not looking great for Ganna that's for sure. It will be difficult to beat Remco in the World Championships unless he clearly improves. Nonetheless Tarling is an absolute beast, he should get the U23 title in Glasow and if he choses to race the elite race he would 'easily' top10.

Hope everything is ok with Ayuso after his crash in the Ordizia classic.

According to http://www.uaeteamemirates.com/hirschi-victorious-ordizia-classic/
"Juan Ayuso , who had been in a leading duo with Oier Lazkano (Movistar) slid in the final corner and crashed on the rain-soaked tarmac. The Spaniard was able to remount and hang on for 3rd place and thankfully did not suffer any serious injury, escaping with a bruised left knee and some abrasions."
