I don't know how accurate the reports are but Ewan was reported to be dropped by the last part of the peloton. If true, that shouldn't happen to a WorldTour rider in this field whether or not he was dropped on his own or with some other riders.

Dude, Ewan got dropped as first rider on the flat, while there's plenty of conti riders here. He came back because peloton stopped rider after those 30 were gone.

No reason to defend him, it's pathetic for a guy who earns 1.7M euros a year. He's obviously not even trying. He's just there so that his employee can't fire him. It has been so obvious tha last couple of weeks.

Unless it was a mechanical ofcourse, but it definitely didn't look that way.

It is not his fault he got that contract. That he gets dropped early in a race is no different to any other sprinter who cant get over a hill. I dont see them getting the same type of stick. It is only because of the money, huh? Why do you care?

He is performing about the same this year as he did 2015-2018 and 2021-2022. His best season in his career, 2019, is a huge outlier compared to his other seasons.

To say he isnt even trying is just false and just your own bias towards him. Because that is just what it is.

You can't be serious right?

First of all the "it's the teams fault they shouldn't have given him the contract'" is just a dumb argument in this sports to always protect the rider. It's about him not trying, not about not being able to do good. No one would complain if he just did sprints and lost. That's not the case it? He performs worse than amateurs lately.

You obviously aren't following him. If someone is talking out of their ass it's you. It is not comparable at all to his first years, not even close (also he was super young in his first years, hwo can you even compare that). He has ridden 4 races after the Tour (in 2 and half months time) and DNF'ed 2 our of 3, which will be 3 out of 4 if he doesn't finish this one. You don't need to be an expert to see that he isn't training and/or isn't trying.

Ofcourse they are, just no team that wants him right now given the whole QS thing. They are all waiting. Too many good riders possibly on the market.

And yeah they're probably not just gonna keep paying 1M of his salary for a season, then it's just better to keep him and let him do .1 races all season. There's no chance he just doesn't do shiit all season as he would just literally ruin his career even more.

How do you know he isnt trying? As I said, he is performing about the same bar one season. Maybe he just was never the type of rider you or whoever gave him that contract thought he was. Not his fault he is not delivering to those high standards.

So who is not really following him and talking out of their ass here?

That you even have to use that type language in a normal discussion says more about you, but maybe you already showed how you are by your first post that I quoted.

You started calling me biased immediately and singling out one rider supposedly (when you weren't even watching the race). So yes you started "not having a normal disccussion'.

And no you aren't following him the last races, it's quite obvious. No idea why you keep saying that he's performing the same as every season. Probably just looking at UCI or PCS points which say nothing as this isn't about the points he's gotten in the first half of the season. no one is talking about this. It's about him the last couple of months. Everyone and their mother knows he's not trying. He's literally performing worse than amateurs, again, yes a bunch of conti riders. You act like he's just that bad.

Anyways, think what you want, I don't care.

Also, have to consider multiple crashes and injuries. It is not like other top sprinters of the past few years are doing much better. Bennett and Ackermann. Gaviria.

He has always been prone to drop early in races. Like many other sprinters before him.

Gaviria has a broken collarbone
Bennett is stil sprinting in flat races, so is Ackermann.

This must be top 10 waffling of 2023. I am done with this. "He doesn't agree with me so he must be biased" lmao.
