Never mind, Ralph Denk is a genius.

He is a decent rider, they just haven't used him well, like in Sibiu Tour where he was working for Schachmann to just see him drop after one attack on Lac Baleac. He doesn't have the sprint Engelhart has tho, but he's still a decent talent.

Lipowitz is a massive talent, if it were all about numbers in a 20 minute test. The umpteenth example of Denk being blinded about what could be, rather than what is. He'd be great if BORA were able to unlock him, but they haven't succeeded once in all their attempts in trying to find the new Roglic.

Berwick ruining some youngsters' fun in Alsace. No idea why Israel is sending a 23y old, who's been pro for 3 years straight and has been on the podium of a GT stage already. Well UCI points I guess, but it's a bit stupid imo. Could've used him in Czech Tour if they wanted some points, that's a pro race atleast.

Do points even count when not riding for the pro team or national teams?

Yeah they count for the team you're contracted too. The UCI needs to change that. No problem with more experienced riders who had a bad injury (like Reichenbach 2 years ago) or neopro's who do a mix of pro and u23/.2 races doing this, but a guy who has almost only raced in the WT this year and has a GT stage podium should not be riding this. It's obviously just for easy UCI points. Change the rules. Only UCI points gattered with the team should count. And you won't see guys like that riding those races anymore. Riders like Reichenbach and Onley/Van Eetvelt this year for example would still cause they have other motives to do it.

While missing out on Kepplinger and Osborne...
For the record, I totally understand the experiment with Toni Palzer, that was a low risk move. A light SkiMo guy with a Vo2 max of 92, who has great results in long distance mountain runs and brings his own sponsor should on paper have lots of upside.

Just to clarify, the "Championnats d'Europe des Grimpeurs" being held tomorrow isn't an actual European Championship, in the sense that the winner(s) won't get a special jersey, right?

the event is listed the UEC page so I'd be upset if I won and did not get the jersey

the start list is not much to write about though

But how would it work? Would the winners only be allowed to wear it in races with a certain percentage of climbing? And what would happen if the regular European Championship has a climby route?

Why do the stages of the Tour de l'Ain finish so early?
I had hoped to at least be able to watch one stage race the upcoming week.
