Lopez did not close the door which was a tactical mistake. Where Lopez rode he could be passed on the inside or the outside. He had to stay on the barriers.

One of the favourites for the race with by far the best team for the flat should really be at the front with 4.5km to go, the crash was about halfway down the bunch wasn't it? It's a constant issue with him.

No. The crash happened at the front of the peleton, and in fact he was riding third in the peleton for most of the stage, and was with his team when the crash occurred. I reckon you did not watch the race.

It is Lopez' race to lose. Stage 4 has a descent finish and even if Plapp takes time on the ascent then he will lose it on the descent.
