Bos beats the cream of the crop. Too bad he can only do so in small ****ty races. He's rapidly becoming the new king of the small ****ty races

So was Greipel not that long ago!

Getting those small ****ty races is great for confidence of a rider. He should make the step of challenging in GT sprints soon hopefully.

Does anyone know how the sprint unfolded or when/where to watch highlights?

From what I've read, there's not much to go on, the peloton broke into pieces, probably due to the wind (it's windy right now). The first group, 26 riders, contested the sprint with Bos crossing the finish line first, followed by Greipel and Cavendish.

Judging from the single photo I've seen on this page, it was a convincing victory for Bos.

Just wanted to say that as well; 4 years ago Greipel was like Theo Bos: win al lot of sprints in small races. Only Greipel won more and couldn't beat cavendish (obviously, same team ). But beating them now is great for your confidence to think you can (and do) start beating them in bigger races.

Don't know how it unfolded but this is what Cav has to say

@MarkCavendish: Hats off to @theo_bos today! Clever, strong, patient, fast. Unbeatable today. Frustrating, after @opqscyclingteam rode so well for me!

And from Greg Henderson

@Greghenderson1: Clever Sprint @theo_bos. Jumped the 'big 3' @ the perfect time. @Lotto_Belisol we very active in the front all day. 2nd @AndreGreipel.

Went to the Summer Olympics in 2004 as well, didn't he?

Carried the flag in 2008? Too bad he never won a gold medal at the Olympics, technically perfect.

Yes, him, Theo and (someone else) rode the team sprint, I believe. He also beat Theo Bos's time at Holland Sport comfortably ;)

He's now the coach for returning superstar Jeremy Wotherspoon.

Tour des Pays de Savoie (2.2), stage 1:

Top 10 :
1 Mirco Saggiorato (EKZ Racing Team) les 133,6 Km en 3h30'30'' (moy 38,08 km/h)
2 Pierre-Roger Latour (Chambéry CF) 00:13
3 Moises Duenas (Burgos BH-Castilla y Leon) 00:21
4 Richard Caparaz (Team RPM Ecuador) 00:38
5 Clément Chevrier (Chambéry CF) 00:54
6 Edouard Lauber (CC Etupes) 01:34
7 François Bidard (CR4C Roanne) 01:43
8 Jésus Del Pino (Burgos BH-Castilla y Leon) 01:50
9 Adam Yates (CC Etupes) 01:50
10 Alexis Gougeard (USSA Pavilly Barentin) 01:50

Saggiorato and Latour leftovers from a 10-man breakaway that got away 60-70km from the finish. Good old Dueñas first rider from the peloton.

Crazy route btw, all 4 stages are mountain stages.

Wasn't it together with Teun Mulder? Quite a team tbh.

I don'n want to make the separate thread since there is a headline on the main page, but some recognizable names participated in 2010 and 2009.
Today Stevic jumped over Der in the GC, but a Slovak took the stage.
Richeze leads the race.

Saggiorato, yeah.

5 years ago I really thought that he would at least turn pro.

Not even IAM wanted him.

He still could become pro, and has a nice 2013. BMC signed Zahner, IAM signed e.g. Reichenbach, and Saggiorato is at their level. I think he could join IAM for 2014.

Great racing in France by the looks of it. The peloton split in 2 early in the stage and a large group of 31 got away, containing a few guys high up in the gc, including Del Pino who was 8th overall this morning. Breakaway got shattered on the first climb already (still 100km from the finish), riders all over the place. The peloton let go and eventually 15 guys tackled the final ascent together, 4 guys 'survived'.

Top 3 of the stage also new top 3 in GC.

If only cycling had their Middle East billionaire who would pay for live coverage of these kind of races

Yesterday was a hilly day in Serbia, but the peloton (particularly Nippo) was too strong and all the small breakaways got hauled in for a mass sprint in the end. Péter Kusztor is our guy for hills and he got in two breakaways but didn't succeed.

Today was a flatter stage but created greater havoc. The two smaller climbs in the first half of the stage caused race leader Richeze and others to crack, making echelons. Ivan Stevic took over the race lead, our main man Dér cracked with Richeze, but Kusztor is only 13 seconds behind in the GC.

I am happiest about the performance of Ábel Kenyeres. He has just been signed as a stagiare because Máté Radonics suddenly retired, and he held on today with the first echelon at the age of 19. He is the junior champion of MTB and is by far the most promising Hungarian climber, maybe he has a chance to make at least a Pro Conti team in the future.
