Lesser Known Road Racing for Women Thread

And you're expecting people in a cycling forum to give a damn about skiing?
Why don't you head over to the Skiing News Forum to discuss that boring-ass sport? Then we can discuss cycling here.

Now... Shooo!
We have more than one very active Nordic sports threads on the board. There's quite a lot of overlap between sports that have similar characteristics and racing formats, believe it or not.

Anyway, Reusser has decided it's time to turbo diesel it.

Or should I say Turbo-Disl?

Not sure how Kopecky thinks she’s going to win the TDF
TBF if Geraint Thomas can win a Tour de France, it wouldn't be any more crazy for Kopecky to do so.

I don't see her doing so based on the current opposition level, but she finished 2nd on Blockhaus last year, so on her absolute best form she can definitely do a lot better than she's doing here in the high mountains. However, if we're going to start to see more multi-climb stages like last year's Alpe d'Huez stage going forward (and we should), rather than hockey sticks and flat-to-rolling selections like we have had in the formative years of the WWT, then the more the likes of Kopecky are going to struggle to be as GC-important as they have been lately.

Yeah... but at least cycling has a potential of being interesting...
You admitted to never having watched cross-country skiing last time you threw a tantrum about somebody (probably me, but could have been Samu or someone else) mentioning it, but you're mighty judgmental about it.

Stiasny climbing like she should, still up there with ELB and Spratty among the best of the rest, but sadly for me (and my CQ game team) she has done her usual job of rendering herself irrelevant to any GC battle by dropping six unnecessary minutes in the flat part of the race.

Exactly. Never seen it has having even the potential of being interesting, so why would I watch.
But anyway; you still haven't explained why people here should be expecting to give ten flying fucks about skiing.
I'm judgemental about your constant need to bring it up.
NOBODY CARES about it!

After Vuelta, it's no longer a surprise that Reusser can climb so well even on very steep gradients, but I had hoped there would have been closer fight. Kopecky, Labous and ELB are clearly not at their very best and without Niedermaier and the peak version of Realini, which we may or may not ever see again, the Swiss army knife cut through everyone with ease.

Unlike Stiasny, Cavallar has actually managed to avoid losing a massive amount of time, so a top 10 is within reach for her, although I can still see her getting overtaken by multiple riders tomorrow. I could see the potential of Ségolène Thomas after following her in the French races over the last couple of seasons, but this is still a completely new level from her.

Sure, but Thomas climbed better compared to his opponents than Kopecky

Why would you compare athletes across sports? That would require caring about multiple sports.
I don't know what's crazier, that you find the concept of somebody caring about more than one sport to be anathema, or that you think that your position of only caring about one sport is the normal one and therefore people demonstrating interest in, or knowledge of, multiple sports, need to be pointed and shunned for their insolence.

Also, this is an internet community that has been running with multiple separate sections for over fifteen years. It is only to be expected that cliques, in-jokes and/or humour that requires knowledge of forum lore would develop.

Problem is that by your constant referrences to Bjørgen, you're expecting everyone to know who the *** you're even talking about.
And, as Samu alluded to, that would require keeping track of your weird antipathies outside of cycling. It's hard enough to keep track of your weird antipathies within cycling.

Look, I'll watch the occasional atheletics (though mostly during Olympics, when the boredom over lack of cycling is driving me nuts), but I don't go around comparing riders to Duplantis.
Why? Because I'm aware most people here won't care.
