And Trinca Colonel did it. Nice for her after the disappointments in the Giro and Tour.

Also quite a contrast the champion from two years ago who is now leaving the sport. I'm slightly more surprised to hear that she's retiring now that I would have been if it had already happened a year ago, but it's become more and more apparent that she won't even return to the level she showed in 2023, which wasn't close to what she had achieved in the years before. What's most important is that she's in a better place now and that she's been lucky enough to be able to make the decision herself and not have her accidents do it for her, although they're obviously still to blame.

Great effort from Trinca Colonel who has taken great steps forward this year in a barren season for Liv Alula. I already have her pencilled in for the UAE Tour in 2026.

Gasparrini was next after the last climb and just got enough room to hold of the sprinting Ferguson in 2nd.

Lippert should’ve worked for her instead of attacking.
Edit: she did in the last km’s.
You are asking tactical astuteness of a rider in a Movistar jersey.

Much like their mens' equivalent they are capable of great bits of tactical riding, but it's more common to see madness. Lippert to Movistar has been a fantastic transfer in terms of her skillset and attitude allied to the often aggressive but sometimes questionable calls coming from the team car.

A few other people and I are watching the Gatineau ITT live on FB. The start list is even worse than usual, which probably has something to do with the WC in Rwanda. Visma, which has been given the abbreviation TEA in the on screen graphics, is the only European team to take part. It should be an easy win for Lieke Nooijen in this field, but it will be interesting to see if US champion Emily Ehrlich, who finished third in 2023, can give her a run for the money. Nooijen's teammate Margaux Vigié is currently in the lead.

The road race was even more of a nailbiter. What the hell are Visma doing there? Collecting UCI points?

2025 » Tour de Gatineau (1.1)

One day race » Gatineau › Gatineau (122.1km)

I watched this today in Gatineau and by lap four half the “peloton” were Visma riders. Pretty sure they took it easy after that but still managed a nice 1-2-3! I also wondered why they are here… Lovely spot to watch a race though

Liv Alula Jayco rode the race in 2024. I suspect the organisers have a deal for one WT team to attend each season.

Emilia Donne takes place this morning, but as usual without TV broadcast. The inclusion of the Monte Calvo could have more impact among the women than the men.

It's the first race in rainbow for Vallieres, but she's up against (most) of the best non-Europeans/non-EC selected riders. Patiño would have won if they had raced it yesterday.
