And Trinca Colonel did it. Nice for her after the disappointments in the Giro and Tour.

Also quite a contrast the champion from two years ago who is now leaving the sport. I'm slightly more surprised to hear that she's retiring now that I would have been if it had already happened a year ago, but it's become more and more apparent that she won't even return to the level she showed in 2023, which wasn't close to what she had achieved in the years before. What's most important is that she's in a better place now and that she's been lucky enough to be able to make the decision herself and not have her accidents do it for her, although they're obviously still to blame.

Great effort from Trinca Colonel who has taken great steps forward this year in a barren season for Liv Alula. I already have her pencilled in for the UAE Tour in 2026.

Gasparrini was next after the last climb and just got enough room to hold of the sprinting Ferguson in 2nd.

Lippert should’ve worked for her instead of attacking.
Edit: she did in the last km’s.
You are asking tactical astuteness of a rider in a Movistar jersey.

Much like their mens' equivalent they are capable of great bits of tactical riding, but it's more common to see madness. Lippert to Movistar has been a fantastic transfer in terms of her skillset and attitude allied to the often aggressive but sometimes questionable calls coming from the team car.

Just got back from my 6h ride to Namur and back. Beautiful scenery on the citadel. The climb was harder than I thought. And a lot of wind the whole day.

Shari Bossuyt already winning again. Really strong on the climb and sprint. So happy for her.

A few other people and I are watching the Gatineau ITT live on FB. The start list is even worse than usual, which probably has something to do with the WC in Rwanda. Visma, which has been given the abbreviation TEA in the on screen graphics, is the only European team to take part. It should be an easy win for Lieke Nooijen in this field, but it will be interesting to see if US champion Emily Ehrlich, who finished third in 2023, can give her a run for the money. Nooijen's teammate Margaux Vigié is currently in the lead.

The road race was even more of a nailbiter. What the hell are Visma doing there? Collecting UCI points?

I watched this today in Gatineau and by lap four half the “peloton” were Visma riders. Pretty sure they took it easy after that but still managed a nice 1-2-3! I also wondered why they are here… Lovely spot to watch a race though

Liv Alula Jayco rode the race in 2024. I suspect the organisers have a deal for one WT team to attend each season.

VolkerWessels are set to join the WWT next year after Ceratizit is gone, but it probably won't be as easy for them to survive the next cycle as it was winning in France today. They were even mroe dominat than Visma in Canada.

Emilia Donne takes place this morning, but as usual without TV broadcast. The inclusion of the Monte Calvo could have more impact among the women than the men.

It's the first race in rainbow for Vallieres, but she's up against (most) of the best non-Europeans/non-EC selected riders. Patiño would have won if they had raced it yesterday.

Decent performance in rainbows for Vallieres. Isabella Holmgren also with one of her best one-day results on a road bike.

Holmgren did a lot of work in the finale for NFB and still managed to beat most of the group. Really strong ride.

I think Kim LeCourt really needs to change the National Champions Jersey, it was quite confusing with her, Vallieres and Moolman-Pasio in the group today. With the Rainbow helmet, Le Court still looks more like the World Champion than the actual Champion. Change the stripes to vertical or something that differentiates it from the World Champion Jersey.

The GP Ciudad de Eibar has just started. The start list is sadly not great due to the other races that have taken part this weekend. We all remember the incredible Laboral Kutxa 1-2 from last year with Blanco and Ostolaza and the latter could very well be stepping up to the top spot on the podium this time around.

In addition to having been moved to the last part of the season, the route has been changed once again and now features Ixua from the easier side as the final climb followed by the tricky descent into Eibar.

This will be the last race day in Ane Santesteban's career after she announced her retirement earlier this week. While she has shown good from in glimpses during the past two seasons injury has kept her from performing at her very best and have ultimately resulted in her decision to call it quits 12 months before originally intended.

A shame that we lose Ane, but after a 15+ year career and with her only victory coming in 2013, reaching her mid 30s with injuries piling up, it felt like it was nearing inevitability.

The race has been neutralised for quite some time due to a collapsed road in the area, but they are on their bikes again now with 66 km left, if the route doesn't have to be altered. It's a cold and rainy day so I don't exactly envy the riders.

The tough part of the climb is still to come, but they won't win if they don't catch Williams before top.

Noemie Thomson from DAS-Hutchinson is doing a great job of reeling Silvestri back in, but Ostolaza will probably counter soon.

And she did.

I look away for two seconds and then this happens. Fortunately Silvestri was able to save the day for the team. They should sign Thomson after this.
