Why do so many people think that the United States Postal Service is funded by tax dollars? It is not. The only tax money the US postal service gets is to cover military members mail that contains their votes from overseas duty stations and mail service for the blind. The US postal service is paid for by the shipping charges on packages and the stamps for regular postage. The last time the US postal service received tax money for general operations was 1983 although the law allows them to receive tax money if they need it.

The USPS is in the process of losing billions of $$$. They will be needing this soon.

Thank you Dr. Tax Nerd.

Tax money is irrelevant. Tax, shmax.

USPS is part of the US Federal Govt. Undebatable.

The terms to focus on are "fraud", and "conspiracy to commit" it.

Not much of a tax guy much less a "Dr. Tax Nerd". How the USPS is funded is really common knowledge.

Wish I could agree - but can't. Most of the last decade's best cyclists cheated. All sorts of people cheat - on their taxes, in golf, in school, etc. Nonetheless, he should own up fully to all he has known and done. But I would be careful on this forum or in life to wish so heavily for someone else to fall.

It isn't wishing for a fall as much as it is hoping for the truth to be revealed in a legal forum.

i go along with this. Most people posting in the clinic who understand the reality of cycling and in particular Armstrong's participation in it are hoping that the truth and nothing but the the truth will be revealed about how he won 7 TdF's, and his massive doping program and it being not due to some miracle of weight loss and an unknown ability to train harder than others and a mentality of someone who cured himself to be able to defeat lesser beings in the peloton in the mind games. i am sure most are not hoping that he ends up under a bridge strung out suffering or in jail for the rest of his life. there is a lot humour in the posts, black humour...but i think the truth coming out will be a pretty severe punishment for LA and having to live the rest of his looking people in the face and seeing their knowledge that they are looking at a guy who cheated big time. What is he gonna say to kids? That is gonna be hard for the guy, never mind jail. For a guy whose father left him at a young age, how is he gonna say i did better for my kids than my dad?

tough times ahead for LA.

"I am convinced that Armstrong will be caught. He is history

Isn't he the same guy who was convinced that Lance would not start the TdF?

And the same guy who was convinced Lance would not make it into France?

Not too convincing if you ask me:)

Judging by his Tour so far, it's almost as if he isn't there at all :p

Based on his performance so far (pathetic) he might as well not have shown up at all. Lot's of chamois sniffers paid a lot of money to travel to France to watch him win his 8th tour (never realistic) and all they get to see is him soft pedaling in the autobus. He is truly an arrogant *******.
Won't even help the only guy on his team with a chance at a top ten.
Now he says he is just enjoying the last week. People should be throwing rotten cabbage at this guy!

Yes, but because he is going so slow, they get to see more of him and take more pictures. They also have more time to find and read their ChalkBot messages.

Those chalk messages are probably worn off by the time Lance rolls over them.

Not to mention all of the yellow band wearing rich blokes that paid top dollar to be part of the "inner circle" of circle jerks so they could fly over to France, on their own dime, and be part of the private parties hosted by CS&E and TWP. What about Ben S. and that road kill of a comedian, Robin W? I wonder how the post race party — really the last supper — is going to feel for them? Will d***-wad even hang around for the festivities? Makes me want to break out my checkbook and write one for $50,000. Whatever happened to his coach, Chris C?

Carmichael is busy trying to collect fees from potential entrants into Leadville.
What a complete and utter tool. I can't believe people actually pay this turd for coaching tips. Might as well wipe your a$$ with your money.

Yes, now there is a racket that someone needs to call BS on. Guaranteed entry into the Leadville 100 for upper-middle class yuppies who sign up for the CTS training event. It's all about the money. Cycling is truely becoming the new golf...

The way things appear to be going Lance`s best defense might be a pyschiatrists report on his personality dissorder/pathology followed up with a stay at the Betty Ford clinic.:D

You joke, but a few folks in Austin have alleged that he was a recreational cocaine user at the bars after his first retirement.

along with PEDs just for cancer recoverers:rolleyes:

at least he could say that he took the PEDs becasue his body was changed and it made no effect. He took them under peer pressure from the peloton.:D

One of the truly big improvements in this year's Tour is the lack of Carmichael's opnions. His absence speaks volumes about LA's potential legal problems.

What does his absence actually say? I have to think that LA's 'potential legal problems' will be relatively minor unless someone can produce actual, credible evidence that he took PED's.

IMHO, Landis has NO credibility whatsoever. Not only did he lie about his own PED use, he also took money from supporters under false pretenses to fund his defense. If we're going to talk about fraud, let's talk about that fraud!

Absolutely despicible... yet he's now being touted as a 'hero'.

I'm in agreement that prohibition as it currently exists is silly.

My reference was intended to point out that:

1) Armstrong isn't the saint he paints himself to be; and

2) More importantly, the line between PED use and recreational drug is is fuzzy. So fuzzy, in fact, that there is often a relationship between recreational drug abuse and PED use.

Not saying Armstrong will pull a Pantani and die with his face in a few ounces of blow.

You need to catch up. No one has to prove LA took anything. If he was involved in the managment of a number of other Federal crimes his personal PED use amounts to nothing. The comment was about Carmichael who hasn't missed an opportunity to coattail Armstrong's success, ever. Why pick the Retirement Tour to go silent? That doesn't strike even a fawning fan as odd?

Why? Because his star athelete is sucking wind right now... what 'success' coattail could he possibly be riding?
