Haven't seen it yet, but I'm very happy with the result. Hopefully it was an exciting race. Did Gilbert crash or something?

brilliant final

at first i thought it was done and Nibali had won. But I had a feeling all along that they were measuring the time towards the Gilbert group, instead of the 1st chasers (Iglisnky/Rodriguez).
I suspect Iglinsky was a lot closer than 43 seconds at the foot of Saint Nicolas, more like 25-35 seconds.

I measured the time gap between Nibali and Iglinsky in an early part of Saint Nicolas (orange marker on left side of road - maybe 50-100 meters after Max dropped J-Rod). At that point the gap was 26 seconds and I knew for certain that what they were showing in screen was crap.

I am little less certain (missed the count) at the top of hill, but I think it was 21 secs at that point...

Nah, he just blew up.

The race was pretty meh up until 25 to go save for the visual of Madrazo nearly breaking his teeth on the pavement trying to push Valverde up La Redoute after giving him his bike (The Don had a mechanical halfway up the climb), but from that point on it was absolutely great.

As I noted before, they gave the timegap from Nibali to the chase group, then Iglinskiy and Rodríguez attacked out of it. At some point, for reasons beyond me, they switched the gap they were showing on screen to the gap from Nibali to the main group of chasers, and not to the nearest chasers (Iglinskiy and Rodríguez). Perhaps it's because they still felt Gilbert was the biggest threat to signpost, or maybe they didn't see Iglinskiy and Rodríguez as a threat worth noting, or maybe they just didn't have the screen graphics available to do the Sporza G1-G2-G3 visuals and tell us where both sets of people were. They kept noting the time back to the main group with Gasparotto, Vanendert et al until it was long since clear Iglinskiy was going to catch Nibbles.

The mystery with Iglinsky is how he's not been more successful. At times he oozes talent. Strade Bianche, E3. What was the mountains stage in the Tour last year where he was the best in the breakaway ?

stage to galibier

he was uber strong that day.

What? And spoil that enigmatic smile of his! That would have been catastrophic

alp d'huez when contador attacked. he dropped back of the breakaway to wait for contador, pushing him back to the breakaway and dropped most of the riders by pushing the pace.

Looking back the stage I'm thinking of is the Galibier. He was in that break that got caught by Andy Schleck and he was still driving it on :) Went on to finish 11th. Roche finished next best of the original break and he was over a minute behind Iglinsky

Oh yes just seen the screenshot above

Costa still the better movistar even tho he missed the first group after lá redoute where rojas and visconti where.

i wonder if he had a mechanical on la redoute or something like that. already asked his girl friend on facebook. he won the "sprint" for 17th place easily and the last images we had of him was him dropping frank while making ground on the roche aux faucons

So much for the Valverde hype I guess :p

at the back as in "being dropped of the back" back or "being stupidly positioned at the back" back?

oh and indeed we may have outdone ourselves with the piti hype, but you will eat your words as he wins romandie :p

Really????

Well Indonesia is a Muslim country and Singapore is on the same island archipello. Probably a mix of religions like Boedhism, Thaoism, Christianity, Islam, etc there as it has a lot of foreign influences.

Hey, hey, hey Bertie, let's not get carried away.

What about 2010?.. Unless he doesn't count that because he hasn't actually seen that win being back in the group and securing Vino's chances.

No idea what happened to Visconti, but Rojas crashed, Madrazo was DQed for not following the racecourse (think he and Martínez took a shortcut like people do into Sanremo rather than ride the Poggio) and Valverde gave up the ghost after he couldn't get back on again after the mechanical.

Not that I think he'd have been a major contender in any event, but we can't really tell given that a mechanical ruined his race.

A lot of the Valverde hype was optimistic based on the assumption that Gilbert would stomp everybody, and Valverde was a major contender who was absent last year, hence the feeling that he might be the only straw we had to clutch at for someone to challenge Gilbert. In the end, we didn't need that straw, since Gilbert wasn't in the same kind of untouchable shape.

Ally Vally's still a very good rider, he just needs some more time to settle in again. His explosive start to the season raised our expectations a bit too high, I fear.

So in a little more than one year, we've had those monument winners: Goss, Nuyens, Vansummeren, Zaugg, Gerrans and Iglinskij. Who'd have thought? Certainly seems like we get a surprise winner more often than not nowadays.

Well, I was trying not to be too ****-ish and let Pistoleto correct himself.
Maybe he got thrown off by their flag, which looks like one of a muslim country. But yeah, mostly buddhism and christianity in Singapour, I think.

15% is Muslim, just looked up. Second biggest religion of the country ;)

Het land beslaat een groep van in totaal 63 eilanden die van Indonesië wordt gescheiden door de Straat Singapore en van Maleisië door de Straat Johore.

Like I said, I took a guess, pretty good one at that.

So that's a muslim country then? Malaysia is and Indonesia is and Singapore is incredibly international, so naturally there will be lots of different religions, but the biggest are christianity first and then Buddhism I think.

christendom (14,6%)
taoïsme (8,5%; voornamelijk etnische Chinezen)
hindoeïsme (4%; voornamelijk etnische Indiërs)
overig (0,7%)
geen religie (14,8%).
