Sure, and they waited 1.5s too long to react and then had an entire team chase him and keep losing time. Unlike popular opinion, it didn't take 30s for people to react and 5 minutes for a chase to form. People were at the limit and couldn't close the gap, that much was clear from post-race interviews at the finish with Fuglsang, Mohoric etc.The mistake last year wasn't Powless not being able to follow the attack, it was the rest of the peloton allowing Quickstep to set up the attack in such a predictable way. It wasn't exactly a surprise attack.
