The mistake last year wasn't Powless not being able to follow the attack, it was the rest of the peloton allowing Quickstep to set up the attack in such a predictable way. It wasn't exactly a surprise attack.
Sure, and they waited 1.5s too long to react and then had an entire team chase him and keep losing time. Unlike popular opinion, it didn't take 30s for people to react and 5 minutes for a chase to form. People were at the limit and couldn't close the gap, that much was clear from post-race interviews at the finish with Fuglsang, Mohoric etc.

Really sad that Pogačar crashed, although he already won LBL its the race where he often has bad luck. Hope that there is no broken bones.

This could help other riders chances like Pidcock, Landa or Skjelmose but Remco should be the favourite in the shape that he is.
What you mean the shape that he is?
He hasn't raced in a month

This. The only way for Remco to truly 'win' today is to make a massive statement, just crush the field. It's the only way he can show that he would have been Pogacar's match today; if he's got the legs it won't matter if they want to make a game of it or not.
It doesn't matter, no way to compare or speculate on that. Even if he crushes everyone, it will be just that Pog wouldn't be dropped. It's all naught. Race is also different now and much harder for Qs. Pity for the race though, was looking forward to a duel.

In grand scheme of things. Pogi won Flanders, Remco will likely LBL but when this classics riders go and face the stage racer Rogla. They both will at least have something to show at the end of the season. And not to finish their cycling careers.

Anyway. Back to the race and lets see on how it unfolds.

No I mean Quickstep rode a tempo that wasn't exactly blowing up the peloton on the climb and everyone happily let Remco sit second wheel without even trying to disrupt the very obvious plan to set up an attack over the top. If Remco had dropped everyone on a climb I'd say yeah he was just too strong, but that wasn't what happened.
