Johan inked a 2 year deal with Radioshack-Nissan-Trek before the Tour.
Why would he not want to continue lol?
And then why would he decide to stay after all lol again?

Says who? Johann.

This article just says a source said sponsors would renew, but strangely the sponsors were unavailable for comment.

Any second now, someone is going to suggest it is not uncommon for major corporations to not announce multi-year, multimillion dollar sponsorship deals with professional sports teams...

Sorry Eleven, I chose to believe Becca on this

You go right ahead and believe that, Race Radio. I have no doubt you'll believe whatever fits your world view.

It was all part of the plan
Radioshack and Trek were in on it from the start
All very hush hush
Radioshack and Johann secret coup
Now they own LeOpard
See, obvious really

Funny, I can't find any links to the so-called sponsorship renewal anywhere ...

Oh geez, here I am pointing out genius negotiating and you guys are oblivious.

Radioshack-Nissan-Trek have been Bruyneel sponsors for awhile now.
If you do not believe me fine.

Radioshack-Nissan-Trek are continuing to sponsor Bruyneel for 2 more years.
If you do not belive me fine.

Bruyneel now has Becca's rider's and Becca is paying for the priviledge.
If you do not believe me fine.

But c'mon, do some homework....

So lets see, a brief history of events

June
First we have Johan Bruyneel announcing a two year continuation of the RadioShack-Nissan-Trek backed team in June. This is not confirmed by the sponsors or many cycling media sources.

August
Radioshack sign Tony Gallopion, Gianni Meersman and linked to Jan Bakelants. Meanwhile Shack riders Ben Hermans and Gregory Rast sign for Leopard. Hermans displays unhappiness with Shack at not getting an opportunity to ride a GT seemingly happy to be leaving.

The Shack are said to have 13 contracted riders for next year including Horner, Brajkovic and Kloeden.

Rumours start to emerge that RadioShack will merge with Leopard-Trek.

L'Equipe reports that 11 riders are on their way out of Leopard.

The Leopard riders and management seem oblivious to any possible merger.

The merger is confirmed with Shack riders Horner, Kloeden, Brajkovic, Zubeldia, King, Busche and Sergeant confirmed as moving to the team in a statement released by RadioShack confirming the merger.

RadioShack and Becca release conflicting statements in regards to the licence, ownership, operations base and running of the team.

Is that everything so far.

what a mess.

As for your 2 years to go comment? how do you work that out? Skys original stated aim was to win the tour within FIVE years. This may be a tough one for you, but FIVE minus TWO is THREE.

Also they were to revolutionise the sport.

i find it strange that a thread on the merger has been locked out of the clinic.

i think this merger should really only be discussed in the clinic particularly in relation to the schlecks.

it has no truly sporting consequences whatsoever.

Think the genius at work is shown by the contrasting press releases

Bruyneel now owns beccas team and yet somehow has convinced Becca that he has done well out of it and is still in charge.

Am sure he convinced him it was his idea from the start.

If you read carefully, I don't think there's any inherent conflict in the two press releases. The tones are certainly vastly different, but the message matches. The only thing that is stupendously absurd in comments from either team so far is Becca's claim about "nothing American". I'm sure the two American-based sponsors, one a nearly-uniquely American company, love to hear that there is nothing American about the team and that it's all Luxembourg.

Ever been to a Shack store in Luxembourg?

Don't pull that gutless "homework" routine. We looked. You proove it. You said it.

I apologize for being gutless.
That was not my intent.

I believe the velonews and velonation stories regarding Radioshack-Nissan-Trek signing on for 2 more years that were published awhile back.

Those stories have been linked on this thread and others.
No offense, but there are many many other stories on that topic out there.

I am still curious as to how much $$ Becca had to spend for the License.

ha ha I love all the press releases. For me it shows that there's nobody in charge of the PR and the overall message. Chaos city.

Ever been to a Shack store in Luxembourg?

Lets have a look:

From Leopard Treks press release:
Leopard announces that RadioShack and Nissan are joining the Leopard-Trek World Tour Team as sponsors for the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
Leopard will continue to hold its existing UCI World Tour License.
The team will continue to call Luxembourg its home.

From RadioShack Treks/LS press release:
As announced earlier today, CSE Pro Cycling LLC is proud to announce that RadioShack and Nissan are joining the Leopard-Trek World Tour Team as sponsors for the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
The team will hold a license in Luxembourg and be named the RadioShack-Nissan-Trek Professional Cycling Team.
All marketing operations will be operated out of Austin, Texas by CSE Pro Cycling LLC.
All sporting operations will be managed by Johan Bruyneel Sports Management in both Belgium and Luxembourg.

Unless CSE have decided to replace Nygaard as the PR guy and put in Becca it sounds like he might actually be running this thing.

There isn't - it is quite apparent that this is Beccas team.
He just didn't have the courtesy to say "thank you for your American dollars".

You know, if you simply answer a straight-forward question, with a straight-forward answer, there's zero risk of incurring another infraction point.
