Was I the only one who had to laugh after the "Spanish experts" part?

Nope.
Had me smiling too.
Obviously they need "Spanish" experts in something, since riding for years with that ITT and descending duffer Cancellara, has taught them nothing.

One of those who is trying to get them to do more is their chiropractor, Josué Arán. He’s actually worked with them a year and a half and has been frank in telling them that they could yet improve.

nothing new then.i think andy and frank are improving and they will improve even more next year but it won't help them.even if those guys will make them bulky as hell.
that's because i feel the others will improve too, just look at cadel's rocket in the tour de france's itt.contador also became even better.
it won't help them, those spanish doctors just should make the schlecks riding faster up the mountains.

Birdy told me they're about to be stiffed world tour wise. They'll be invited to the Tour but not a lot else.

Out of interest (and genuine question), would that be the case?

I guess he means that nowadays, unlike 2009, there are several guys in the field who can drop AC on a serious climb on a good day, even if he tries to keep up with them. At least that is how I understood not only that sentence, but this year's Tour in a whole...

U misunderstood this Tour then. Regarding this year's Tour there are two keywords that explains why Contador didnt win:
1) Giro
2) Crashes

It does play to their advantage thou. Hiding away all year preparing for the Tour. Although Fabs may not get to ride the races he wants. I doubt they’ll get a Giro ride which stuffs Fusalong.

................... Nissan are american sponsors, I do't think they will be happy with a team that almost have non american

Nissan is a Japanese company with Renault (a French company) owning 43% of it.
(Nissan USA is an American company so if they are the sponsors then you are correct.)

the main objective of nissan sponsoring the cycling is to promote their green car leaf in the north american market, i can assure you Nissan and Radioshack will pull out soon, they are very unhappy with this merge

I assume they were consulted? Basically there's a new team being formed, which requires the consent of the sponsors (stands to reason).

Also, having watched the Tour of California and the USA Pro Cycling Whateveritscalled, I get the impression that the most popular active cyclist among American cycling fans is Andy Schleck.

I can assure most don't even know who Andy Shleck is. Lance is still number one. Although they don't defend him like they used to...
