Gilbert or Evans. Those two seem a level above (not just because they won amste/fleche) this year. Maybe JROD as well.

I think katusha should do well at liege as thaey can send riders up the road and have the team to control the race. They should try to do a ride like Saxo last year. Expecting kolobnev to do something.

Saxo will want to ride like Saxo this year. They're numbers 4-8 are the best around for that kind of work. It probably won't be as flawless as last year though.

That's a very broad statement. Do something? What like start? Turn one pedal revolution.

Stupid comment.

Be more specfic.

Maybe you need to learn to use your brain and learn the skill of inference.

Liege-Bastogne-Liege

Was impressed with the Katusha team in the Fleche although I think they need to dose their efforts a bit better and not waste too much energy. The Russians do liven the races up. For me the winner will be one of the following : Gilbert, Rodriguez, Evans or Kolobnev.

Ok I will spell it out for people like you so you can work out what I am saying. I think Kolobnev has a good chance to win with katusha if he puts in one of his late attacks as he seems to have good form. Did you follow?

as we agreed before, astana may have a two-leader plan for this sunday. vino confirmed as much in his post stage 4 comments. said, he was even considering not starting stage 4 given the liege plans and the traveling difficulties. i think indirectly berto said something similar about the astana team tactics this sunday.

I really think the key for them is having someone in the early break. If they can defer working at the front as long as possible AND AC's allergies aren't a problem, then I think they will figure in the final. As strange as it sounds, I don't think there is any pressure on them tomorrow. Astana has had, by all accounts, an excellent Ardennes Classic (two podiums out of two races).

I guess we'll know how this all plays out in about 26 hours.

with all the big favorites (re: gilbert, evans, schlecks, contador) marking each other i could easily see a small group of two or three getting away and contesting the win. would not surprise me if a couple guys like ivanov and kreuziger got away, worked well together, and stayed away to contest the victory. both seem to have good form and are willing to put in an attack, and both seem to be flying under the radar at the moment

I actually thought they dosed their efforts to perfection at FW. They had two guys on form who could win (but aren't the type of riders who could win from a group at the bottom of the Mur) and they had one guy who is exactly the type of rider to win a race up the Mur. I & K took their shots, softened up the favorites and let JO follow wheels and wait for the Mur. Just came a superior Evans away from the top step.

LBL is more evenly suited to the three of them so I agree, it will be really important for them to be smart with the timing of their attacks. Guessing it will be Kolobnev, Ivanov and the Schlecks making attacks and Valverde and Gilbert sitting back a bit. If Cadel attacks I think it will be a very late attack. Unsure on how the race suits Contador

Taamarae has had some good results this year. I think the quality is too high for him but maybe it could be a breakthrough for him and see him close to the big guns come the finish? Been a little disappointed that Roche hasnt got a higher placing at some point, hopefully he's saving something for tomorrow (he is only young though).

Gilbert is too short :(

Bets on Rodriguez and Kolobnev - COME ON KATUSHA!

Height-wise Gilbert has a full 10 centimetres on Joaquim Rodriguez…unless I'm not following you on what 'too short' exactly means.

Warm weather tomorrow for Liege, high in the low 20s centigrade.

Not sure if he's online at the mo but im pretty sure he means the odds are too short, ie odds of 4-1 whereas he might want to place a bet if it was say 7 or 8-1

Ah. See I'm not a gambling man so I didn't make the association. Thanks for the correction.
