As you say, at least Farrar's positioning looks improved from the Giro. But top end speed, gee, who can beat Cavendish. Hope Bennati's knees are better.

Sarcasm aside, you should never try in that situation. Ignatiev has tried this type of suicidal attack well over twenty times in his pro career. It's never worked. He once won by attacking inside the final 2kms at the Trofeo Laigueglia, and that's very different from this.

Attacking with over 10 to go, with no support when the pack is large and at full flight and the narrow windy roads are all behind you is stupid.

That's completely different from "You should never try".
But hey, if you like putting words in my mouth, feel free. Doesn't show you in good light, though.

Interesting how sensible you react on my sarcasm.
I didn't expect this since you where so sure about the intellegence of Ignatiev.

Of course you probably won't win in that kind of a situation.
But why the hell not try? I don't think he'll die from doing so.
It should've been a bit later but you also make the sponsor visible doing it and get into the memory of people.
Whatever presents your sponsor is good.

Also: if nothing happens thing can be pretty boring.
I'm happy with a little entertainment once in a while.

So I don't see how such a harsh statement on his brainpower is justified.

Oh btw.
Cav...boring.
Great work by comlumbia though.

Where were Boonan, Bennati, Hushovd, Friere?
BBT's Japanese sprinter took 5th...

Held up in the crash of the Euskaltel rider.

BTW it's "Freire" :)

Boonen got left behind, cuz the Euskatel boy chrased right in front of him and to avoid a crahs he gave up the sprint...:(

Good win for Cav though! He deserved it, so grats to him...

I think that curve crash caused some brakes to be touched.

Farrar wouldn't have gotten second otherwise because Boonen would still have lost if he'd been on Cav's wheel, but he wouldn't have lost 3 bike lengths in a slipstream.

Because it's not one situation: he does this all the time. Especially in Grand Tours, he tends to burn himself out in the first couple of days and do nothing the rest of the three weeks because he's completely dead :)

Some riders, tactically, made bad decisions after bad decisions. It's life. Some are smarter, some are.....well...."less smart".

Still, he's nowhere near as bad as Björn "The peloton's in full flight and the break is 4 minutes ahead...I'll try to bridge alone" Leukemans :p

they got caught behind the crash. i saw boonen avoid it and go right (into the wrong road)

Cavendish got lucky with crash, not that he wouldn't have won anyway.

Who says genes are important. Look at Nicholas Roche up there! Training will only do so much (hence all the fun and games we know about).

*But his dad has turned into a really fattie.

Tyler Phinney has an unfair advantage: should be banned, LOL!

I know. I came back from elsewhere to check and before I could, the "spelling" police had pulled me up.

I'm sorry, I wouldn't have said anything if I knew it was just a mistake. Quite simply I've been reading "Friere" constantly in articles recently (cyclingnews articles especially), so I just assumed you thought it was Friere.

My apologies :)

Yeah, Boonen's not just a big engine, but smart rider/bike handler too. Just not so great with beer patios, etc. :D

Yea, being jacked up on coke will give you lightening fast reactions....

Well, with folks packin' heat this Tour (Berti and Uniball getting ready for shootout in the Okay Corral of the Astana team bus), Boonen needs to have an edge if he's passing by. :D

There'll be no time splits, due to the crash being within the final km, never mind the final 3km.
All the peloton should get the same time.
Always comes up like this due to automatic timing.

Edit:
179. HUTAROVICH Yauheni 104 FRANCAISE DES JEUX 4h 37' 16" + 07' 14"
180. KLIER Andreas 7 CERVELO TEST TEAM 4h 37' 16" + 07' 14"

All the rest @ 0"

I think I picked up Boonen watching in slowmo. He got bumped hard to the left and braked almost to a stop but didn't go into that escape road.

Cavendish.. there's no substitute for horsepower.

I must have missed his in competition positive for coke.

He just ignores the rules on moving drug talk to the other section.
