Vincenzo just keeps making me Smile even more :D If he can carry that ITT power over a distance he should be considered a Tour podium candidate.

Meanwhile Bravo Shark!!!!!

and nibali showed/used it almost to perfection lol

Notice how they had a notch in the podium for him to place it in so he didn't have to lay it down? Class act! Awesome trophy!

if he keeps riding like this I might actually start to like him. Found myself cheering for him today during the ITT

Don't worry, he still needs to confess that Nibali is a better cyclist than Gesink :D
That is still debatable (big Nibali fan here). Though if Gesink stays at Rabo his whole career...

With Nibali riding the way he has from 2010 on, he has gained many supporters (myself included).
Attacking both up and down hill. I love it!
I doubt he is good enough to podium at the Tour for the foreseeable future, but who knows? If he keeps improving...

As for the Nibali vs. Gesink debate, I'd rate Nibs as a slightly better TT rider, way better bike handler/descender, and a tactically smarter rider than Gesink.
The one area where I think Gesink is still better is climbing. With both at their best, I'd say Gesink would outclimb Nibs.
I prefer Nibs though.

In results yes, in a physiological way I don't believe that until I see a fully fit, 100% Gesink lose against Nibali without falling etc etc

But we all know that the we will never find out, because of the "without falling" part :D :(

No it happened multiple times before 2010 when they raced eachother. Unfortunately they evaded eachother and Gesink kept evading racing at all.

I'm with you there. Nibali has a lot of fight in him. I like that he always goes for it at MSR and GdL, among other races. An animater, he's won this T-A with panache and style. Funny that a couple of years ago while he was teammates with Kreuziger, that Kreuziger minimized Nibali's talent, saying that he didn't have a big enough engine. Two years later comparing their successes since that time, I'd say Nibali has maximized his gifts while Kreuziger is just now, if T-A is an example, making his way back to where he was at that point in time. I also have to respect how he publicly handled the Sagan incident. Pure class.

i am very happy for the squalo win
he really deserved, racing aggressively, overcoming with class the sagan affair.
this year he has showed progresses in tt and climbing
he was expected as the next big thing in italian cycling and he is trying to fulfill the expectations: two podium at giro, a top ten in tour, a win at the vuelta, now t-a , a win in plouay and in some italian semiclassic, always aggressive , trying to so something in monuments, not afraid of trying to win both in m-sr in lombardia.
i appreciate that he always tries, he rides aggressively and also from this standpoint he is way better than gesink .
looking at the palmares, no way to compare vincenzo with gesink.
i am sure that vincenzo will keep on improving, i do not know if i can say the same thing for gesink, that is stagnating in the last years. he had bad luck, he was stopped by his father's accident in the moment he was maybe turning the point.
i do not understand why gesink keeps on with the tour obsessioon. imho. he should try the giro to acquire some self esteem and learn to run not only following the best.
