He has massively improved his climbing since leaving Green Edge, though his sprinting has gone down a touch and his classics riding has not developed - He struggled to get over cat 3 climbs at Green Edge.
 
Because the directors of that team were complete morons that made him spend crazy amounts of time lifting weights to be better in mass sprints. They wanted him to be a different type of rider.

It was posted at the time of Cort's transfer that he wanted to further develop as a classics rider - Gaining weight for a classics rider is quite common.

Ultimately, Cort left because he received a better contract from Astana.

There has been a lot of talk about Ganna's insane power this season, but being able to do a perfect leadout from a different continent definitely puts Bissegger ahead in my book.
