March 17th 2012 Milan-Sanremo - The Primavera - 298km

It's a sprinter's race. I feel nostalgic for the days of Kelly, Fignon and Merckx, but since Zabel the sprinters have won almost every year.

1 Cavendish
2 Greipel
3 Farrar
4 Boonen
5 Petacchi
6 Freire
7 Goss
8 Cancellara
9 Sagan
10 Ballan

Oh come one Jens Attacks its a well known fact there happened a lot clinic-wise in the early 90-ties.

It's also a well known fact that Chiapucci was an early adopter. Looks at his tour results from 90-92 and compare to later years...

It's too bad cyclismag is gone, they also had the times up climbs and wattages go up severely in the Tour somewhere around 92/93. Same can be said for climbing times in classics around that time. Top riders who didn't went with it suddenly went from being the best to not even breaking top 20 (Edwig van Hooydonck). etc :p

This pseudo-clinic stuff is incredibly annoying. How is what happened in 92/93 pertinent to the race that this thread is about???????

Y'all going to be seeing plenty of this today on the Poggio except he will stay away!:)

It would probably be Ballan though- since GVA has the heel injury. GVA if he can hold on in a group of 5 would win in a sprint but some serious attacking would have to happen.

My brother has bothered me this whole week on how Cavendish is going to win. It's going to be at its worst today. I REALLY, REALLY hope he doesn't win.

As much as I'd like to see that happen I don't think MSR is 'hard' enough for him to win...more a strongman sprinter type....

In other words a classics rider.

IMO like last year the winner will be who can stay with Spartacus on the descent.

Sagan hopefully...

I'm personally really hoping that last year marked the beginning of a new trend away from the boring MSRs that have been prevalent for the last decade. Last year was great...

Yes, well, the thing is, if Cancellara is there you will not get a bunch sprint, because he will always go 3km from the finish. This is why Cav will not win. If the God of Thunder can stay with him he will have a chance. Otherwise, yes Goss again or Sagan.

This is what I'm hoping will happen. But Thor isn't racing.

I am upset that Thor is not racing i thought briefly of having him in my CQ team because i thought he could win one of M-SR/ P-R this year ( but now Boonen and Cancellara will also screw the P-R one ). Sagan could be the next Sean Kelly as well.
