As i said on the cq thread. I dont like it, i really wanted anyone but Goss to win, but i cant take anything from Goss (no matter how hard i try). He did deserve it.

To get over that climb at the pace of a Grand tour winner (shark) and win the sprint on your own, impressive.

+1 to all of this.

I'm not saying Greipel would have won last year, but he at least would have given HTC a second card to play.

One of my highlights of today actually, seeing Greipel pulling for the team. Good on him! :)

Greipel is such a team player. He was driving it hard for Gilbert. In races like this, riders show their true colours by having a go or sitting back.

By the way, the real surprise of the day:

Cancellara has outsprinted Gilbert. Didn't expect that even after his attacks, but oh well.

Does Eurosport in Australia show all cycling races on TV or just a select few? If they show all I may have to actually start paying to get it.

They show basically all PT races, all GTs and classics are shown. They showed PN and TA also (TA delayed after PN).

And they showed warm up races like Qatar too.

They are pretty good. Had coverage from 1-3am today. not so bad.

What? Goss may not have attacked all over the place but he worked his *** off on the hills and chased down Gilbert and Spartacus when they tried to get away in the final 3000 metres.

Goss has earned a nickname, and from now on I shall call him Harley Davidson.
One winky not enough?
'Twas but a joke.

Oh yes because the masses wathc Eurosport.

Apart from SBS, I don't this will get much coverage here. :(

Evans win in Tirreno got coverage on various radio stations in Adelaide although I heard Gesink's name absolutely destroyed in one piece. I expect it will be the same with Goss. Every time an Aussie does well I hear about it and sometimes even when there is no Aussie doing well.

Well they don't show all races. They do show all of the major classics & GTs though. I think they also show some of the week long stage races (PN, TA, Dauphine etc.)

nice ride by leopard, ogrady in break and then cancellera closing in at finish, second is not bad considering their driving force in the race.
Goss never would have been there without Cancellera, HTC owes Leopard /O Grady and Cancellera.
Definately an Aussie cycling mafia victory. Go team Anglos!

Let's not have a discussion about Goss not being a worthy winner shall we ;) He clearly is. He survived all the attacks of world class puncheurs.

your last post indicated you had him on ignore, and yet you reply to him. nice bluff :D

maybe time to move on from the childish posts guys ;)

lol'd i moved on thats why i didn't reply :p

anyway ya like you said its typical to see guys try to attack and fail on the poggio. tbh i think both scarponi and nibali did it last year, but thats just make it 1 more reason to love them, they fail or know they will but still try.

youre trolling really has hit an all time high.

As far as Sky go, the one thing stopping them from being complete fail of the day is how badly garmin did. What is going on there.

I'm just not really sure he would; Cavendish and Greipel would be more or less the same card in different suits.

Greipel is a more willing worker ant; Cavendish is a better top end sprinter.

But neither of them in the form of March 2010 were getting to the finish in the front group.

Goss is different. Goss is a different type of rider to Cavendish. Yes, he's a sprinter. But he's more of a Hushovd/Freire guy who sticks it out and wins from a reduced group. He can get there over some hills. Normally he can thank the team's tedium train for that, but he has plenty of ability to guide himself, and he used all of that in the win today. We haven't seen Cavendish win anything that wasn't pancake flat since July 2009. The only time I recall seeing Greipel win something that wasn't pancake flat was February 2010.

Just came back from my ride, thought I'd have the time to watch the finale but I was too slow

So far I've only seen the last 2 kms on Sporza but if the rest of the race was as exciting as those I'll have to look for a longer summary. Congratulations to Goss, impressive stuff. Cancellara looking really strong, even beat Gilbert in the sprint.

I was surprised to see no Garmin-Cervélo rider in the first group ... what happened there?

1) why do we need this thread

and

2) have a bit of respect for those who may have come on here not knowing the result to read through the race thread who have now had the result ruined for them.

Except their schedules are REALLY innacurate, and they cut off the presentation ceremony before we got to see Goss on the podium.

Oh, and Sean Kelly's monotone voice is incredibly sleep-inducing if you're even slightly tired! :)

Apart from those not-insignificant drawbacks, the australian Eurosport coverage of the entire cycling season is great.

Don't be too down on sky dim. The amount of success they have outweighs failures.

Goss has confirmed himself in the top echelon of riders in world cycling. Such a strong rider.

Ventoso 11th... thanks for not mentioning the entire time, Dave and Sean, I thought he was the 3rd Movistar in there.

Well he wasn't exactly visable....

a joke frankly. If you are the teams protected rider you should not be alone at any point in the race, certainly not left by your entire team.

As has happened before they simply werent paying attention and then took too long to react. Worst sky performance that I can remember.

Thats not really surprising because season has finally started :p

You might remember bad performances - I remember the good ones.
Makes it quiet easier to save diskspace.

Milan-San Remo was full of excitement from 90km to go mark. And you went on a training ride?
