Mateo has a lot more P-R's to lose, then.

Ving abandoning is a blessing in disguise for Jorgenson to elevate himself and earn an opportunity to campaign a grand tour in 2026.
Why would it be? He rode for himself in Paris-Nice and the Dauphiné last year. And he had a chance to go for stage victory in the Tour last year, where Pogacar closed a... what was it... 4 minute gap on him on the final climb?

I think he and Visma know what he's capable of. Which is contend for the podium or the win in stage races like these. But I think purely on account of his physique, multiple days of heavy climbing will always prove to be too much.

He already had the offer to ride for GC in the Giro this year. He gets exactly the opportunities he wants. He was happy with how last year went and wanted the same program this year, as he didn't feel ready to lead a GT.

Despite the moans earlier when his schedule was announced, he must also be quite happy with riding PN as co-captain.

Avoiding catastrophe tomorrow he’s about to have another great win at PN. Realistically he should be stronger for the classics and it’ll be interesting to see how he does in RVV, he might have a worse result due to WVA. Then most likely top 5-10 at CdD riding in support of Vingegaard and I think he can top 5 the Tour if everything goes right. Overall a great rider and the best America has had for quite awhile.

Other teams will likely try to isolate him early tomorrow and try get riders in a group infront.

He will have to be strong and looks to be there at the moment. Maybe offense will be the best strategy, perhaps similar to last year. Getting away with a couple of other strong riders and riding/controlling the race on the front.

He should have taken it. You don't waste your prime. You never know what future years might bring. Although, I don't know what that would have done for his classics campaign.

The week was big, I think it was for me the hardest Paris-Nice I've done, I've done four of them now, and this one, really every day felt very challenging and we just never had a day off. It feels good to win, a relief, but it also just feels special that at the beginning of the week I had in my head that I wanted to win this race, and even with Jonas there, my objective was to win myself. And I'm just glad that the boys committed to both me and Jonas at the beginning and then once unfortunately Jonas had to go home, then they committed to me fully, and it just feels really good. Like you said, I'm proud of it. I'm not going to say I'm prouder than last year, because also last year was incredibly difficult and was interesting winning, not expecting it and having all of a sudden a bunch of pressure.
