Im Swedish and know for certain that is how the name is pronounced.

May not make sense to you but that is just how it is.

The question was about how it's pronounced in Norwegian.
But I'll ammend my earlier claim; it's only Swedes that can't be trusted!

Anyway... back to Matteo!
Do we know if he pronounces his first name in the Italian way, or a more Americanized way?

Yes, Squire said how it is in Norwegian. I added more context and said that is how Swedes pronounces the name as well. It is quite a common name for men born in the 1960-1970s, especially.

I am not surprised that a Dane wouldnt understand this.

And then laarsland corrected you and said that's not how a Norwegian would pronounce it.
I only went with what Squire say about the Norwegian part and added said context about how Swedes pronounces it that way as well. Keep up.

I responded to laarsland that as a Swede I know for a fact that is how people pronounce it.

As said, you can feel it doesnt make sense but it is how it is.

Do you have much experience with redheaded Danes named 'Hansen'?

@Armchair Cyclist, maybe you could move the entire pronouncitaion and untrustworthyness discussion starting with the strange way of pronouncing 'Magnus' to a seperate that named "Why Swedes - and Some Norwegians - Can't Be Trusted"
It is Danes who seems to derail threads and having to have discussions removed about off-topic stuff.

Maybe that would be a more fitting title :)

Or just rename this thread The Pronunciaton and Etymology Thread - the first few pages it was also the only thing that was discussed.

I think the road will decide. Vingo says he's willing to work for Matteo if he proves to be the strongest, which is a strong condition. If Vingo is the strongest then Matteo should work for him ofc. If both are equally strong then it could get interesting and maybe, just maybe, Vingo will let Matteo win then.

Sounds he's going to test him like Hinault did with LeMond.
