Hamilton also seemed very anxious to defend Lance in the 60min interview. I'm never quite sure how to take such comments. It's difficult to tell if they are expressing honest opinions, or attempting to protect themselves from the inevitable accusations of bitterness or jealousy.
I'd say they're sincere. They honestly don't think Armstrong did anything wrong - certainly not in the doping department, which is what they'd be aware of. For them, it's just the way things were, the way the game was played. They might feel Armstrong is being singled out and persecuted unfairly.

The article contains little news in terms of doping, just that Max admits to having used EPO 3 times. Also, he talks openly about how testosteron can be applied without being caught.
Also, he indirectly accuses Hincapie and Michael Barry, by saying that, if he would have doped more, he could still have been active, using Hincapie and Barry as cases in point.
...

Thanks for making the connection (long, wandering read to get here).

Barry talked about Max quite a bit in his book. My sense was they were reasonably good friends, but don't have the book with me (thus, this is recollection).

Any more on this connection? What were the latest rumors on Barry being 'interviewed' in California?

Dave.

Hamilton owes much to Armstrong and grew up in the myopic cesspool of USACycling that those two, Hincapie, Frankie...shared. That Frankie outed himself looms larger every day. Whether he meant to or not.

Sincere? They knew these practices were contrary to the rules, so what if that was the way things were. When I was an investment manager I heard this same rationale from insider traders who ripped people off blind, shrugging and saying that was the way it was done. I am just curious if the team mates were also aware of the organized crimes that are being investigated, and is that the way things are also done?
