Was TheSpud "banned for trolling" due what he posted in the Moderator's thread, or some other thread where such posts have since been deleted?

I'm guessing that it was for flogging a dead horse in the Mods thread. Fair enough IMO.

I guess if a prediction was to made it was Spud would get himself banned again. He's a good poster at times, I don't know why he heads down the path with the myth of "majority belief" and you get banned if you go against it.

Are they going to get a ban for there relentless insults and baiting of me

quote Busted knuckle "Weight 'weenie', how appropriate. Remove your appendix or one kidney yet? Why not? "
"Writing your name Wilings is lighter too"

quote JRS "kicking @rse, takin names and predicting the future :D"

or do I keep getting bans for defending myself because you the mods don't do your job properly ?

Once again, for clarity......I fail to see how I have insulted or baited you Ray?
Busted commented in one of his posts that you would / could be banned if you continued with your approach, and within days.....once again, you were banned - Hence my "predicting the future" comment.

Not an insult, neither an attempt to bait.

If my post is offensive to you, or showing a lack of respect.......

Conveniently leaving out the context of said quotes and the fact that the poster was repeatedly calling Bustedknuckle 'flustered knuckle'. Who was baiting who again?

Lobbying for bans is distasteful IMO.

Okay everyone (rayjay, jackrabbit, and whomever is involved in this little infight)

You all need to find a way to put this past you, and move on.

This little infight that just goes on and on brings nothing to this forum.

So this is the end of it.

This is not about who is right or not right anymore, because either party fails to make any attempt to deescalate the situation or move on.

Therefore we have decided that we will have no more of it, so any hint of a bait or snide remark from here on will be considered trolling.

If you really need to comment further you can make a final effort in the sidebar thread, which we will monitor closely. If you use this opportunity it will be of a reconciling nature.

I suggest you use the opportunity to lay down arms and start over.

We cannot have this situation interrupting and destroying good threads anymore. Nor can we accept a constant urge to seek conflict. And it doesn't matter who did what and when anymore, so please look forward and try to make the best of this from now.

Play nice, and keep discussions onwards respectful, and on topic.
If you disagree on a topic, don't get personal.

And btw, people are right to disagree and air that opinion. Don't take disagreement as something personal unless it is posted in a manner directed at the poster.

Thank you all.

This is a post taken from the Froome thread

If Froome had not had the wind split time in hand then Quintana would have won last years tour.
Froome dripped time in the last week.

How on earth is he going to cope with Aru. Quintana and a possibly on form Bertie all attacking in the last week.
There is no evidence to support Froome getting stronger in the last week of a tour.
He's best chance IMO is to ride smart like he did at the Vuelta when he lost to Bertie and maybe can get a podium at best.
Like I said his TT will have to be huge. He will need big time gaps to have any chance going into the third week."

dacooley responds with these comments

"either it is a well-thought witty trolling from you or the 2015 tour and other races froome shows up himself well don't teach you anything"

Now I don't understand how a difference of opinion is "trolling" and to be honest this use of the word trolling is ruining the threads. Posters are backing off what they want to say in fear of a ban.
I don't mind some one who comes on the Bertie thread and wants to make comments about how bertie is such a cra% rider. No one is getting hurt people can respond or peoples can ignore.
I got my bans IMO for defending myself and I found my self reporting posters because they were not getting bans for posting in the same way.
I think the site has become to stiff. I think if people want to stir things up let them" free speech" it can make for interesting posts and sometimes some good heated debate" nothing wrong with that" and you tend to get a bit more humour flying around.

I feel very stifled on this site right now regards to letting rip in the pro thread or making Jokes etc.

I much prefer to be able to defend myself with words than having to report a ban to get some kind of fair play.

I see it this way . As long as you are not physically threatening someone or crossing obvious lines then I think its time the mods ease up and let free speech reign.

Trolling can be a pain, but insistent whining always is.

Tell me MarkvW Who's whining "you, now" and who's trying to figure out what exactly merits a ban "me" Because I see inconsistency's and it would be nice to ease up on the bans a bit and let posters express themselves " like you just did " with out fear of a ban.

When you consistently complain about how the website isn't catered to your own special personality, those complaints can fairly be considered "whining." Of course there are inconsistencies here. I remember chafing under Berzin's unfair moderation.

I have never seen whining that was effective in achieving a reform of the moderating system. I saw Maserati get banned because of his really angry whining. I'm sure you have never seen whining be effective either.

Then why do you whine? Either you want to (a) vent into the wild blue; (b) get into arguments about your whining; or (c) commiserate with other people who want to whine. If it's (a), just go to your window, open it, and yell "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take any more!" That will do you about as much good as anything else. You've tried (b) at least a couple of times, already, so you already know it is futile. All that's left is (c).

Anyway, chill out and enjoy, dude.

I don't think I am whining.
I am in-fact trying to get some clarity as regards to what generates a ban. Did you read my post?
I was also asking/suggesting it maybe better for the mods to ease up on the trolling/baiting bans and let posters debate it out rather than give out a ban..
I for one have just decided that if I get digs aimed at me I am going to "try" to ignore them and definitely not report a post unless its really offensive "big time"
I also have come to thinking why the hell do we post on here? I usually always have something to do yet somehow squeeze the odd 10 mniute's or more here and there to post. It must a be a ego thing. Its not working for me though :D

Fact is, we will never make everyone happy.

Some think we are too harsh, some think we should loosen up.

We always try to find the right balance.

Some will be left dissapointed.

Though I am against bans in general (people should just be ignored), I can suspend that belief in this case. Whatever reason he got banned for is good with me.

If the mods think you're trolling you get a ban for trolling. Clearly they did not believe Maxiton posting his thread was trolling which is absolutely fair cause Maxiton just posted his opinion.

I haven't read every post in that sorry excuse for a thread, but the posts by 86tdfwinner that I managed to read seem to be merely calling spade a spade.

For what it's worth I didn't have any problem with any of his posts that I saw. In fact I haven't had any problem with any posts in there - until today. Until today, some of the posts were immature, and clearly from people who couldn't be bothered to read and think, but I didn't see them as trolling. For the most part, discussion has been reasonable and interesting.

Today, however, some people are starting to troll (one of them even boasts about it) and I don't appreciate it. If you've got something to add to the discussion then add it by all means. But it accomplishes nothing to troll the thread, and shows poor judgement.

He posted something that would irritate some people purely to get a desired reaction out of somebody. That is the definition of trolling.
