What happened to the posts after Irondan's above. The ones talking about MODS (which I think meant modifications to the Board software and not Moderators) about banning people from a specific thread?

As a follow up - I think that if there is such a 'MOD' (feature) that could allow a member to cool off from a specific topic, thread, etc. for a few hours, days, etc. then it should be looked at. I've noticed some threads get very heated but also that the same users can post in other threads at the sametime in a more restrained way. Anyone think that is worth looking at?

The answer is no, It is not possible. Not with phpbb. Such MOD's only exist for vBulletin, which was our previous software. The closest thing we have is banning users from an entire sub-forum, and it's not a straightforward, clear feature as it requires a lot of workaround to make it happen.

Would it be possible for mods to - if they come across a situation like this - to go in an tell a poster that "maybe you should take some time off from this particular thread."?
It wouldn't count as a warning, and would of course be the poster's own choice, but sometimes having someone tell in - in a friendly way - to maybe take a bit of a break, might help...
(I'm not entirely sure this made sense...)

I also back this, though I'd like to know how many times he has to get banned for the same offences before he's banned on a permanent basis. He intentionally breaks the rules repeatedly and the previous bans have not in any way changed his approach.

The 'one clean rider' thread was classic for this situation. It was a clear set up on Boardman.
BigCog comes in and places Boardmans name as the "one clear rider', I post a tongue & cheek post, which was then clearly reported and asked to supply "real evidence". I thought most knew about the French Senate tests with regards to Boardman hence why I made the joke (I honestly thought Bigcog was intelligent enough to know it as well), that was hard to believe he would be the "one clean rider".
Thus after Irondan "gentle" warning I posted in the report and the possibility that it could be Boardman in the prologue who may have used EPO down to a 33.33% chance. eBandit then tried to strangle the thread to death with pointless remarks and poor mathematics. It was disappointing, then it got down to "you're just calling him dirty without evidence", which I clearly wasn't. I was only stating its doubtful he could be the "one clean rider". I certainly wouldn't put Boardman as the "dirtiest rider"; as the evidence suggests otherwise.
Right here would have been perfect for a ban on one thread for eBandit, as such he was able to continue mucking up one thread until the full ban came in.

1. I was never threatening or abusive to any poster on this site and did not make any personal "nasty remarks " about any poster on this site.
2. The Landa thread is not the "only nice comments about landa thread"
I was giving my genuine opinion . The fact Landa fans did not like my opinion does not warrant a ban. Its a forum for free speech it should not a be a forum where if posters don't like your view they *** to the mods and get you a ban.
3. Taxus called me a nobody, that is a personal insult something I have never done to taxus. How come he does not get a ban?
4. Taxus said that Landa is the best climber /rider in the world . He then said that Peter Kennaugh's injury has opened up a tour d france ride for Landa. I pointed out that he would not need Peter Kennaugh to be injured to get a ride if he was so good. I pointed the contradiction out to Taxus. He or other posters were obviously not happy as the post has been removed for no real reason other than the benefit of angered Landa Fans.
5. I pointed out that Landa had been dropped on a climb and has never shown the consistency needed to win a GT.
6 If Landa wins the tour d france this year that would be great and I would have no trouble admitting I was wrong and he truly is a great GT champion . My opinion is based on what I know and if Landa wins or loses it means nothing to me . I have a life and cycle racing has no real life impact on that except as a spector event.

That was an impressive block of text. I never get why people go into a state of denial when the mods make a correct decision (OMG its a conspiracy by the Landa mafia to get you banned).
Maybe if you treated people with respect instead of intentionally going into threads to antagonise people, you wouldn't get banned. How many times do the mods have to ban you until it clicks that you've got to change your attitude? What is this, the fifth time now?

I have been told that I was banned for breaking rules . No response at all from the mods to points I posted just a general white wash of the issue because they " the mods " know they are wrong.
