Oh dear, no sooner is Ryo back and he is banned again, I have not seen the deleted post but he needs to learn what is and isn't acceptable because I enjoy his posts.
He said he suspected LS is a girl because LS is "whining all the time" and a few other things that didn't stand out so much.

Yes, but it was by far the longest they ever went without screwing anything up.

I reckon its better when they screw up than when on the rare occasions they dont. When mods start acting rationally it kind of freaks me out.

Oh I'm sure by the letter of the law it is. I'm just rolling my eyes because I think people take things way too seriously.

Doubt he deserves the benefit of the doubt when he has been banned about 12 times before.

Yeah well... I guess I don't agree with most of those bans either. But that's just my opinion and as I'm not in charge here, there's not much I can do about it.

So permaban as a result of cumulative bans is not a possibility?

It is and it isn't, there are now rules upon the rules to override the rules that rule you. Its really a whole mess now really, what's applied, what's interpreted then what is convenient, not to mention the cry baby appeal which has always worked (so far).

I don't know where you get that idea. It certainly is not how the rules are written, nor what they say.

This thread needs to be closed since the mods decided they are too pusillanimous to take any criticism.

We can always mail Bensen, the guy who lied to everyone about the Papp situation. What future year will that answer from legal scheduled to be released. That is also the same guy who displayed awesome customer service by deleting a user group of mine without bothering to tell me.

Last nail in the coffin.

Then have a sit down (electronically) with Daniel and change the rules some more. The incredibly simple reason that this forum has reached the current state of play is that the most disruptive influences, the ones who have repeatedly attracted bans for all the reasons that come under the heading 'being disruptive to the smooth running of the forum', have been allowed back time after time to continue their disruption. Once someone has been banned for several limited periods, and then continues the behavior for which they were banned in the first place, it's time to wave them goodbye permanently.

I'm not pointing any fingers at anyone in particular, just a general observation based on my broad and long experience of forums.

P.S. Daniel - Closing the only topic where members can express their views and/or frustrations is a VERY BAD idea. The answer is to police it better, not to make it unavailable. Sending emails about the forum to someone who is as busy as you are with other things, is not any kind of way forward, and will only lead to further frustration, aggravation, and loss of membership.

Amen. For the sake of the forum I urge you to reopen it!

I agree completely. It allowed us to address moderators more freely, and was good because it gave members a thread to express frustrations with less fear of being banned. It wasn't open season, but it was more open. The fact is that, even though moderation is a thankless job, mistakes have been made, and allowing members to express that, or even express dissatisfaction when mods weren't wrong actually does benefit the forum.

All that being said, I'd vote for a completely moderator-less thread where anything goes...but I am a bit more of a free-speech advocate than many here.
