Pretty sure I remember reporting a post from Blackcat that was definitely not a mis-interpretation. I have no idea if that's why he was suspended or not.

I have no idea what post you're referring to, but one thing to keep in mind about blackcat is that everything aside from doping talk is satire. It's not meant to be taken seriously. I mean, that seems abundantly clear.
Anyway, I know I'm not going to win this argument, so I'll give up.
Foxxy: I agree, and like I said, I appreciate the fact that moderators donate their time to keep things under control.
I'm glad I don't have to read page after page of tedious fights between members, but this isn't Sunday school either.
The occasional jab and back and forth doesn't warrant two week suspensions, unless of course a poster is consistently being a jackass.

I fully understand blackcats posting style, I quite like it. I'm not going to rake over old coals and link the post as a) I have no idea if that is why he was banned and b) I don't see what good discussing it here would do. In my opinion the post was very obvious baiting and I reported it. I report all posts I consider against the rules and leave it up to the mods to deal with.

I'm just pointing out that it's not just disgruntled members with an axe to grind who may have reported blackcat for something they thought inappropriate. I have no problem at all with blackcat (or any forum member for that matter).

What suspension is warranted is up to the mods to decide, it obviously takes more into account than just the reported post, as can be seen from Ryo's new suspension, and the occasional jab is very dependent on what happens before/after. Personally I think they are completely unnecessary and will report them where I see them. No one is forced to answer a post, if they can't be civil then they shouldn't answer it.

What did Ryo exactly say today that got him a 6 month ban? To me it looked like he was posting in a less insulting way than he used to the last few weeks.

As I said in the suspensions thread, he was blatantly talking clinic talk in the PRR duing the Vuelta stage 8 thread.

His comment alone did not get him a 6 month ban, his 15+ (I counted 15 in the susp. thread but he was a forum member a year longer than the thread is old so there may be more) bans accumulated into a 6 month ban.

This isn't exactly the right place to ask this, but it's not worth a new thread. Why is there a smiley on the title for the Member Suspensions thread?

I see that only appears under the 'view new posts' tab. Obviousy not supposed to be there, thanks for the heads up.

My best guess is topic icons got funny after transfering to the new system, i.e other symbol was there.

I'd just like to register a polite request for moderators to go easy on handing out bans.
One of the most interesting and informative posters has been banned a second time in a two week period for reasons I can't comprehend.
I've been reading these boards for quite some time, and I can say with conviction that blackcat does not troll, nor does he bait.
I appreciate the role moderators play to keep things under control, but some seem a little trigger happy when handing out suspensions.
I'm assuming the majority of contributors are adults who know how to keep things reasonably respectful. No need to hand out bans for entirely unnecessary reasons.

Nope. They cant. Remember the mod-free zone after the forum overhaul? It was wild west.
So I think the banhammer being back makes the place better. In my opinion...

The irony.

Right?
I was surprised that Foxxy came to the defence of the moderators for what seems to me an excessive use of power to suspend/ban posters. I'm pretty sure he's been suspended multiple times.
I'm not a fan of Foxxy's views; in fact I'm totally opposed to them. With that said, I'm a big proponent of freedom of speech. I think it's important to allow everyone to say what they want; reason being it allows the reasonable majority to come together and shut out the craziness (sorry, Foxxy; but what you're saying is very disturbing).
I know this is just a cycling message board, but the way it is moderated is very interesting.
To put someone like Foxxy and blackcat in the same sentence (i.e. suspended) seems totally absurd to me.

He seemed very capable of cracking the sads at people for something he himself just did or was in the process of doing. Self righteous.

I could say more but would prefer not to discuss another poster.

Racist posts warrant instaban. 2 week ban was lenient. Too bad he didn't see that.
Speaking of seeing: how many people saw his meltdown before it was deleted? It was highly entertaining. Threatened to take the mods to court and everything.

I happened to read the bolded message to Mr Benson moments before it was deleted.
It was pretty funny. I guess we'll next see him in court, then. Popcorn's brewing.

....I must have hit the storm at its epic peak....like up popped the new posts page and maybe 2/3's of the page were posts from a "new" poster ranting and ranting and ranting and then culminating the storm with a threat to sue....

....they will speak of this storm in hushed tones around campfires late at night for centuries to come....yes they will...

Cheers

You'll have to inform me, I also missed all of whatever happened. ;)

Foxxy is one of those posters who should have had a permaban a long time ago. He made some outrageously racist posts in the Politics topic some time ago, for which he merely received a quiet word behind the scenes. That was by no means the first time either. There is no fathoming the inconsistency of moderation here, which today became disgracefully intrusive in the aforementioned topic.

Im gutted about Foxxy's ban, obviously I don't know what was said i'm just talking purely about GGTG reasons. It was a great game and I was on for a finish in the final table.

But seriously, pretty dumb to instantly start using a sockpuppet the moment you get banned

Still think permabanning the original account is kinda harsh though, although I'm sure there's more to it than just seeing it as a dumb thing to do just as talking doping the PRR forum

It wasn't quite on the scale of Jackhammer's explosion but it was a good one. The best for a while.
