Did CheckMyPecs get banned for his signature (well, username) post on the stage thread? That would seem harsh. It was a throwaway post IMHO, not something in any way malicious, IMHO. Maybe he does it a bit too often, and that line is surely hard to draw, I know, but I haven't seen him bring it up in a while. Even the posters arguing with him weren't particularly aggrieved by it. I know I'm sticking up for the least popular opinion on the board, one that I've mocked before, but precisely that's why I think it's worth having unless it really gets out of hand. YMMV.

6 or 7 weeks ago I was accused of trolling by an administrator who was probably having a bad day and confused some terms. People here are often accused of trolling and get banned, sometimes unfairly. The same probably happened to CMP and some others.

I was banned for 2 weeks, because I received a warning and I told the moderator that most of them sucked at their task, since sometimes people here get insulted/trolled and nothing happens, even after reports are sent. Other times, people get banned for the vague excuse of "trolling". It's not coherent.

I know that moderators and administrators have a tough task, especially because they're giving up their free time without being financially rewarded, but here we're supposed to behave like bots.
I disagree completely.

Here you're supposed to behave within forum rules.

You do spend an awful lot of time talking about "narratives", "the majority" etc. but do little work in the threads to provide your own viewpoint.

Why not put some of the tinfoil you've got going on there and tell us in the Sky threads why you think they are clean and that marginal gains really do add up into race winning performances.

yes?
bump.

In the 1600's in Europe there was a phenomenon know as the ''Glass Delusion'. People thought they were made of glass so they couldn't be touched or face embassment as they would break.

You get the feeling that the Sky fans face the same delusion. They are so entrenched in a belief that Sky don't dope that they fear the very thought that it might be true. So they attempt to suppress and censor any mention that it could exist.

For the 21st century it can only be described as Bot Logic.

This sounds somewhat like Hillary voters in the politics thread :D

Tchaikovsky held his chin when conducting so he wouldn't shatter. People will believe anything, that much hasn't changed since the 1800's.

Just read that blackcat has been suspended for six months.
Too bad the mods don't realize he was constantly referring to a world renowned artist who used to be a top level-athlete.
blackcat is *** awesome, and he taps into a side of sport that some are too lazy to contemplate.
Mods, please peruse the work of Matthew Barney and re-think why you suspended blackcat.
If you have any sense of awareness you will realize your mistake in suspending the guy.
Edited to say I wish the jock culture would take a step back and evaluate their role in society. I don't use 'jock culture" in a pejorative sense. I'm one of them.

That is really not how this works. Breaking the rules consistently is not suddenly okay because referencing something. It's about the content of the posts, not what the references are.

They're also not within the rules, which apply to everyone, no matter how many people think it's hilarious.

No need to go on and on about someone being suspended from a cycling message board, so I'll just say this and be done with it:
The rules to which you refer are obviously subjective.
blackcat doesn't "troll," "bait," or insult other members. He doesn't target anyone just for the sake of getting someone's goat; he's obviously a smart guy who isn't interested in stuff like that.. Yet he gets suspended for using terms others have to look up and subsequently find offensive--e.g. Onanism.
That just silly, and only serves to dumb down the message board.

I respect Barney as a person and how he carries himself as an artist. The work--for me--is too far on the spectacle side of the ledger.

well said, that;s my take, too.

Otoh, from what i understood, he was warned to not use a specific term (or abbreviation?) yet continued using it.
So that sounds like a straightforward ban. That's stubborn from BC.
As much as I hate to see BC get banned, one thing that has transpired in the past few months is that one shouldn't provoke the mods. It's the mods' way or the high way. It may not always be fair, but the choice is quite clear.

That said, six months is way too long. It may be justified (i don't know what happened behind the scenes), but in this case maybe the mods could take BC's fanbase (me included) into consideration as an alleviating circumstance :)

He has been repeatedly warned not to use that language. He chose to continue with it.

Not at all. Banning is the last thing we want to do, but if you can't post within the rules despite multiple warnings, then you'll very likely get banned.

I made that sound worse than it is. As much as I may find some decisions too harsh, you guys have been pretty consistent and transparent and straightforward in the past couple of months.
I do hope you'll consider reducing BC s ban. He's been a loyal regular here with a broad fan base, and Well, see Delgado post. BC never went around baiting people.

He did stir up a few of the die hard empire crew, but who hasn't? What BlackCat did earned a ban, but 6 months? I'll keep my opinion to myself.

6 months for someone I have been friends with for a long time seems a bit harsh. I note the moderators replies so as they say if you break the rules you have to pay. I still think it was a bit harsh, just an opinion and not any jab at any moderation.

Several users raise valid observations on moderator's behavior in Black Cat ban. But I noticed, these users feel the need, to embed their comments in sycophantic language towards moderators, almost like apologizing for slightest criticism of moderators. Do they fear they'll become banned themselves if they speak their concerns?

Ha!
I'm not good at identifying sock puppets, but the post above looks like ebandit's desperate attempt to write a grammatically coherent sentence.

p.s. Please note that I'm kidding. For what it's worth, I enjoy ebandit's contributions, regardless of whether or not I a) agree, or b) have no clue what point the guy is trying to make.
