What do we know about Robin Orins. At 22 he is quite old nowadays for age group racing but to podium Paris Roubaix espoirs and LBL under 23s in successive weeks is impressive range and ability.

He's pretty good, I'm surprised Flanders didn't take him last year cause the only reason Lotto hesitated making him pro was because of a bad injury. He recovered well and continues his upwards trend. In his 2nd year as a u23 rider he was already pretty strong, but was basically Van Eetvelts dom in every race.

With pretty good I don't mean like super/winner pro type good, but he's definitely pro worthy, and he's super versatile (he's pretty heavy, but is not bad uphill, see his result here, but also in Var earlier this year for example, has a decent TT too). I expect Lotto to give him a pro contract, definitely given they will need at least one neopro next year and for now there's no reason to speed up the Widar development (who's supposed to go pro in '26). But if they don't he won't have a problem getting a contract at Flanders or Bingoal I assume.

Lotto should definitely sign Orins, he's consistent (twice 3rd in PR) and able to get a result in L-B-L...

While I see where you're coming from, it's also the case that January/February pro wins aren't quite like most other pro wins, and he hasn't exactly dominated the lesser races he has done since.

I'm more confused about Morgado's reasoning for being in this race.

What's up with Faure Prost losing nine minutes on an almost flat stage? :(

Morgado also lost half a minute today.

Bardiani doing both the Giro, and the Giro Next Gen.
And I don't mean a devo team doing the Giro Next Gen, I mean the actual ProTeam. I suppose there's an implicit expectation that they're bringing Pozzovivo to the Giro Next Get...

Anyway, coverage has started on D+.

Tbf, Bardiani has the decency to mainly bring their young guys who mostly ride smaller races anyway. Apparently they wanted to set up a proper developmental team, but it was too expensive.

Keep an eye on Pinarello, he's a good rider. 2 years ago the Italian federation created some drama because him and Pellizzari signed with Bardiani straight out of the junior ranks, skipping the u23 ranks. They had to get a Slovenian license because those clowns within the federation wouldn't allow it...

Jarnoooo Widarrrrr!

He wins the first mountain stage solo.

Toussaint (why tf did Tietema drop him exactly? Not entertaining enough?) 2nd, Rondel 3rd.

Visma boys completely failed it seems.

A decent showing by Kajamini.
Bardiani played their cards well by sending Pinarello on the attack (with Graat) early on the climb, while Kajamini and Pavel Novak were in the gc group.

Here's something I've realised:
Between more and more riders going pro at a young age - often straight out of Juniors - and devo-team riders being able to guest-ride for the main teams, I've completely lost track of which rider rides where.
I was sure Widar was already with the Main Team, and that he'd won pro races. But maybe I'd gotten him confused with someone else, because - you know - "young talented Belgian, who wins a lot!" could apply to quite a lot of riders.

Definitely mixing him up with someone else. Not sure who, maybe Lecerf from Quick Step as he's also small.

Widar is only 18, has only raced 2 Italian races with the pro (and was a domestique there). Not sure exactly when he will be going pro (or if he already has a pro contract with Lotto), but for now he's just in their devo team.
