Poor Alaphilippe

Alaphilippe was never in consideration for the Tour this year and he needed his rest. I doubt he could've done any better after being in form for so long. This does not mean that taking Kwiatkowski to the Tour was a good idea by EQS but swapping him for Alaphilippe would be just as wrong.

Kwia 64th in a 13.8k ITT...

What the hell is wrong with him?

I like Kwia as a rider, so I'm extremely disappointed.

Naturally, he should have skipped ToC then...

I thought this exact thing, even EBH beat him. This kind of TT should've been at least a top 15 from him. Perhaps Kwia is trying to shift his main focus on riding mountains better than ever, but honestly I can't see him sticking with Rigo for the 3 weeks. Odd ride really, anyone got news on why he was sub par?

Nothing wrong with the guy,he wants his contract sorted out and that's it:
“I would like it all finished by August and there’s no way I’ll wait until the end of the season."
“I would keep it calm but when you have news in the media every week about it you have to answer. I would like to focus more on the races and that’s why I have my agent, but lets hope it can be finished at the right time. The longer I talk, it’s worse but I want to stay.”(http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news...tixx-quick-step-despite-team-sky-offer-180170)

I hope Etixx has the money,a move to Sky would not be good for him or for Sky.

I think he is just out of shape. In Suisse he was bad and when he was in the break he was dropped as one of the first

Obviously he is out of shape but why take him to the Tour when other guys could contribute so much more? Right now he is just an expensive bottle-boy with a nice jersey on his back.

You just answered your question yourself ;)

"I was pretty nervous as was everyone in the peloton, as it always is in the first week at Le Tour. The team rode 100 percent today for me, especially Kwiatkowski. He was unbelievable. After everything I did for him in the past years, he gave it back in the last two days. It's amazing for me and I want to thank him as the World Champion for being such a supportive teammate the whole race." - Tony Martin after todays stage :)

Very polite for Tony, but Kiato is a world champion that is good in all the terrains and he was third on Fleche Valone. He must work these days for Cav in some stages, for Tony as he has the oportunity of the Yellow and for Rigo as he is a GC contender, and he is not in the shape to do that,

He did a good job, but not the kind of job you expect for a guy of his level if he is OK.

I dont know if he was calling the car for some kind of problems, but he fade at the end...

Why is he in le Tour, just to show the rainbow?

He worked today, but just a little, 1 km very strong at 40 Km from the finish, yesterday similar, quality work, but very short, and there is a lot of work to do for people as Cavendish, Tony Martin, Uran and even today for Stybar to get the stage.

If he was at his best he had even the option to shine himself and even get the jersey, but if you are not at that level you must be close and sacrifice for other riders...

For sure there is people in Ettix that can do more this days... I hope he help on the mountains.

I always thought that in your renewal year of the contract you wanted to be even better than the previous year to get the most amount of money, as this is also your livelihood. At his current performance there is no point of him being there at all. And it's quite frustrating as a fan of his to watch him ride around in a rainbow pulling his teammates instead of contending for stage wins which he proved he is completely capable of.

If him and Majka don't start making some right career choices both of them are going to end up the way of Szmyd. Flashes of brilliance but all in all just a good ol' waterboy in the end.

He is not in superb form but still the best helper of the Tour so far. He worked his ass off 3 days in a row to get Tony into the race-lead. He is a good teammate and not just a "good ol' waterboy.

There are dozens of riders thst worked their asses off every day. You seem to rate his work higher, because its rare to see him doing domestiques work. I don't see any improvement yet. He was miserable in the TT and he still is a shadow of himself. If i was in Brailsfords position, I would check twice on his performance atm.

Disgrace of a World Champion, much worse than Cav.

Being 2nd in Paris-Nice and winning Amstel is a disgrace. Okay. He had a decent season so far. Not exceptional but how many World Champions can say that in recent years? Most of them had a down year (compared to previous achievements) while wearing the stripes. That Kwiatkowski falls in line with these cyclists is not a disgrace.

Nice effort from Kwiat today. One of my favorite riders to watch. Has so much talent, hopefully Sky doesn't make him a nameless domestique in their train.

If they can turn Wiggins and probably Thomas into Tour-contenders, Kwiatkowski shouldn't be a problem for them.

He's got some waiting in front of him.The list at Sky is long,i'm not sure it will happen too soon.
