Mikel Landa Discussion Thread

Landa was never going to gain enough time in the mountains to offset the time loss in the ITTs to Froome in 2017. 2nd would be the limit.
Usually I would agree with that but he was accidentally riding away from Froome on every climb that year. The best I ever saw him climb for an entire grand tour and Froome looked below his best but still good enough to win the overall.

Wonderful domestique work from Landa on the final climb yesterday, beautiful to see. He's had another good Tour.
Yeah, and he also said he wasn't at his best and that's not his best Tour. I can't wait for the Vuelta where he will be leader and probably in better shape like last year. It would be great if he can podium there.

If he is leader we has aleays to think that he will be worse or something could happend. But I hope this time can be different. There are some hard stages and he can do a good result. Better no pressure.

I really hope this is the Vuelta where Landa is finally freed and gets his GC win. Kind of feels like now or never.

With the top 3 from the Tour not going to the Vuelta, he has a real shot if he keeps the same level.
Yeah and I just saw the Vuelta parcours, it's suited for him as there's alot of mountains and only 34km of time trial. believe there will be Roglic, Ayuso, Almeida, A. Yates, Rodriguez probably, Mas, Carapaz and Martinez. But if his form improve, he can be at least in the podium

Very well Mikel. Today the stage has been quite explosive, very good profile for Roglic and Mikel just didnt lose time, using well the team, but he has put time to O Connor and Carapaz. ( And Yates, becouse you never knows) Very important seconds, becouse now I think that dont need any crazy thibg for far, just in Picón Blanco if necessary and dome seconds here and there are enough to beat O Connor IMO, but he just fail at Big gradients, so maybe just Ancares, Cuitu Negro and Covadonga are enough to drop him before Picón. So, for Landa IS everything ok. He just tinbre super 2 Or 3 Keys stages and if someone is stronger well for him, deserved Vuelta. For Mas is a similar. Go Landa! Landismo o barbarie!

If GC top 4 would only be separated by mere seconds going to the final ITT stage, Roglic vs Landani and his fellow Spaniards - Mas and Rodriguez, there's no way that the Spaniards could out-pedal the Slovenian for top podium finish. Therefore, Landa and company should consider working out more to improve their aerodynamic forms during the off-season.
