Mikel Landa Discussion Thread

It's not too difficult to guess his form at any particular moment if you've followed his career very closely. In this case, I'm pretty sure he started this Giro very far from a peak. He said he didn't feel great in the Etna stage, so the question is, could he have gained all that much fitness by tomorrow? My guess is that he is fit enough to keep up with most, but someone like Landa in really good form would be able to drop him. Of course, it's only a guess in both cases. We don't really know how good Landa is feeling either.

He doesn't look like the rider that jumped and immediately put 30s into Contador. For half his break he had Postlberger sitting on his wheel, and that is the guy they have leading out the last km of a sprint..

Tomorrow will be crucial for landa. He has to be better than thomas, if not he won't be leader. Today sky showed already who is the number one, landa wouldn't attack today if he was the leader

Landa attacked today because he wanted to. It had nothing to do with team orders or leadership.

Then I'm pretty sure his team didn't like it. If he doesn't gain time tomorrow on Thomas, he's a domestique de luxe after the TT

The attack isn't a problem for Brailsford:

Sir David Brailsford supported Mikel Landa's spontaneous attack in the Giro d'Italia, and says it's part of the plan to race more aggressively in Grand Tours.

Nice recovery by Brailsford. Landa is going to be robbed again like he was in 2015. Brailsford is going to treat him like he treated Uran at the 2013 Giro.

Why? In 2013, Uran was riding for Wiggins. Now, Thomas and Landa are joint leaders. In fact, Lands has the number 1 bib.

What's the point anymore? Can't watch a race without some external factor messing everything up. The Giro is over for me how- Quintana will obviously win. We should not have to stand for these motos. Peloton needs to protest: refuse to race or something until they sort this crap out.

Let's not pretend Landa was likely to challenge Quintana.

This. And neither was Thomas for that matter.

... Well, lets be honest, he was the only one who could have challenged him, at least on the mountains.
