I was away, so had to fast forward through parts of the race until the last 40km or so. I finished watching ten minutes ago. I'm still in disbelief. This is not supposed to be possible, yet he does it. Hard to see him not ending up with a greater palmarès than Merckx now.

Would love if he could win PR and complete the Monument Slam this year.

We might see Vingo be a winner of the career GT Slam.

Then it's up to see if Pogi will target the Vuelta this year.

Yeah, and huge effort to recover because he really had to break the race up on Cipressa. If they’d gone to Poggio as a peleton there would have been more than three left over the top.

Good race, I think Flanders is over unfortunately, Van Der Poel was huffing and puffing ambling up the climb. He reminded me of Mick Foley post-1998 hell in a cell match, Van Aert actually looked decent, screwed the most by the crash.

I don't know how decent he looked, haven't checked yet but I think he was nowhere near the front of the group at the top of the Poggio.

It's 3 weeks away, not a month to PR, but fair enough, there is time; I do think Pog is going to lay waste to him at De Ronde (and everyone else to be fair...), that one to me is a done deal.

Flanders was never a possibility if Pogacar is healthy.

Someone ended up gut punching Merckx cause the frustration got to big.
It's not something i would ever advocate for, but things can get ugly if the dominance continues and his (Pogacar) positive image starts to change.

I don't think today was bad at all though; he had to fight for this one big time and that was a Rainbow Jersey performance for sure. I definitely get it when he's on his100th 80k solo, but today was a special win; taking MSR this way, it will be a big part of his lore now.

I disagree, Pogacar knows this descent well enough to ride it blindfolded. Little chance of gaining more than a few meters. He did everything right, up to the point when he almost launched his sprint and hesitated.

Not wise by VDP but seeing his form in the end it made no difference to his chances. It was over before Cipressa for him.

But guys like Devolder, Nuyens, Hayman won Monuments this century. Even Zaugg won Lombardia. Nowadays With Pogi and VDP around, it's hardly the case.
